Silver and black stars using Lacquester and Snail Vinyls

Vandaag is het verjaardagsfeest van mijn (schoon)zus, dus om die reden heb ik gisterenavond lekker zitten spelen met stencils en lak. Lekker friemelen met die stencils, slokje wijn tussendoor, heerlijke avond was dat!

Ik heb uiteraard allebei mijn handen gedaan, maar ik kan maar 1 hand tegelijk fotograferen :-)

Op dit moment maak ik weer foto's met mijn mobiel, dan moet je echt zo veel moeite doen om niet te bewegen, ik ben al blij dat ik een aantal redelijke foto's kan produceren.

Ik heb nog geen idee wat ik aantrek, maar bij zilver en zwart past alles!

Dus kom maar op met die cocktails en hamburgers, ik ben er klaar voor :-)

Twinkled T Nail Vinyls

While looking at all the amazing nails on Instagram I found the perfect nail vinyls: Twinkled T's Cyclone vinyls. I fell in love and found out they were available for a reasonable price via their Etsy shop. So a few minutes later I had placed my order. I added some stripes and chevrons too, because, you know how that goes, you just can't just buy one product.

They arrived quickly and I couldn't wait to try the cyclones out, so I used them over the nail polish I was wearing.

Products used:
Black: Orly Liquid Vinyl
Glitter: Orly Gold Prism
Gold: OPI My Favorite Ornament
Nail Vinyls in Cyclone and Chevron

This was just a little testrun on the vinyls, but I liked the result so much that I took some pictures to show it to you.

Using the cyclone vinyls took me some practice and patience, especially patience. These vinyls are very sticky. The first two vinyls got stuck on eachother when I tried to pick one off the sheet, The third got stuck on itself, it spiraled back after removing it from the sheet and when I tried to fix it I only made it worse and couldn't use it anymore.
Placing it back on my nail also required an insane amount of patience and a steady hand to get them in the right place and with the right spacing between the spirals, but the results are very much worth it!

Have you ever tried these cyclones? If you have, do you have any tips on placing them that might make it a bit easier? I used tweezers as they suggested, but it still took me some time to get it right.

Orly - 'Saturated' with neon dots.

So how are you liking the new look here on my blog? Doesn't it look clean and fresh? No more clutter, the colors are lighter, new template...it is still a work in progress ofcourse, but I'm already liking this fresh new start of 2015.

I'm also picking up on the 52 week challenge from The Crumpet with my 'Dotting tools' manicure, 'Dotting tools' being one of the possible challenges this week.
You could also choose 'pink and aqua' for this week, but that combination of colors sounds like Barbies dreamhouse to me (and I really dislike that girl).

That gorgeous deep dark neon purple is Orly 'Saturated', I love love love this color. Unfortunately, my camera does not love this color, but I managed to get a somewhat accurate picture of the color anyway.

Application: 2 / 3 coats, depending on how thick you paint your layers. I did 3 thin coats, because with 2 thin coats I had some nails that weren't completely opaque.
The polish dries a bit matte, but not matte enough, so a topcoat (matte or glossy) is recommended!

I used the dotting tool to make three white dots on each nail, and after that I dotted neon polish over the white dots.

Orly 'Miss Conduct' with golden chevrons by smART nails + giveaway - Part 5

I call these my Wonder Woman nails! I'm aware the logo of Wonder Woman looks different, she doesn't wear pink and certainly no glitter, but still this reminds me of Wonder Woman. I really like the old cartoon Wonder Woman, with the muscles and all, she's so bad-ass. Not at all as the pictures I've seen with Megan Fox as Wonder Woman, who doesn't look muscular and strong at all.

Miss Conduct is a lovely magenta with amazing holographic sparkles. The holo is not the strongest one out there, but even when the holo doesn''t show up, you still get a nice sparkle from it.
This is also almost a one-coater, so lots of reasons to buy this polish if you come across it.

Even without sunlight, this is stull a lovely sparkly magenta polish.

Have I already told you how easy the stencils are? You just stick them on your nail, paint over them, peel the stencil off and *Boom* there are your fabulous nails!

Spring cleaning: 10 mani's I never posted (+ Drawer of Untrieds)

There are so many swatches on my laptop that I never posted for reasons I don't understand. So I decided to post some of them together in this post so I can remove these files on my disk and make room for newer swatches so I can clean up the Drawer of Untrieds.

Er staan echt zo veel swatches op mijn laptop die ik om onverklaarbare redenen nooit gepost heb. Dus ik besloot een post te doen van een aantal van deze swatches zodat ik die mapjes weg kan gooien en wat ruimte kan maken op de schijf voor nieuwe swatches en zo weer mijn Lade met Ongebruikte Lakjes kan opruimen.

Essie Smooth Sailing. I believe I wore this mani in December round Christmas. The color is lovely and the shimmer is very pretty

Essie Smooth Sailing. Volgens mij droeg ik deze mani in December ergens rond kerstmis. de kleur is prachtig en de shimmer is echt mooi.

Catrice Big Spender Wanted! Pink with a golden shimmer, pretty and girly. If this wasn't girly enough I added that terrible nailart to it, gives me cavities just looking at it. Don't know why I did this...

Catrice Big Spender Wanted! Roze met gouden shimmer, mooi en erg meisjesachtig. En alsof dit niet zoet genoeg was heb ik ook nog die vreselijke nailart erbij gedaan, ik krijg al gaatjes als ik ernaar kijk. Geen idee waarom ik dit gedaan heb.

China Glaze Crushed Candy. A great crackle polish, color is pretty, works really good. But I'm all crackled out now, I'm not buying metallic crackles or glitter crackles anymore. 

(although I might buy the OPI Superman crackle if the swatches look good )

OPI Diva of Geneva. I really love this polish and wore it al least 3 times ( which is alot for me ). This is the most color accurate picture I took in those three times, for some reason my camera can't capture the true beauty of this polish.

OPI Diva of Geneva. Ik vind dit echt een tegekke lak en heb 'm al zeker 3 keer gedragen ( dat is echt veel voor mij ). Dit is de beste foto die ik in die 3 keer heb genomen, mijn camera krijgt het maar niet voor elkaar om de echte schoonheid van deze lak vast te leggen

China Glaze Stella. Another polish that is truly beautiful, but my camera can't get a decent picture of. This polish is a purple + red + pink, all in one stunning polish. But my camera colorcorrects it to either pink or red, I guess this picture comes close to the real color though.

China Glaze Stella. Nog zo'n lak die echt waanzinnig is, maar waar mijn camera geen normale foto van kan  maken. Deze lak is paars + rood + roze allemaal samen in één lak. Maar mijn camera pakt steeds alleen de rode of de roze kleur eruit.

Ik geloof wel dat deze foto redelijk in de buurt komt van de echte kleur

For our Winter Wonderland Christmas Eve party I did a simple mani with China Glaze White on White and the tiny holographic glitters from Fairy Dust. Matched my outfit (+ white wig) perfectly.

Voor onze Winter Wonderland Kerstavond party deed ik een simpele mani met China Glaze White on White en de kleine holografische glittertjes van Fairy Dust. Het paste perfect bij mijn outfit (+witte pruik)

My sister gave me her bottle of Orly Red Carpet because she knows how much I love a bright red pedi. Unfortunately this polish is very sheer, this is three coats. The tiny silver glitter in it is nice though.

Mijn zusje gaf me haar flesje Orly Red Carpet omdat ze weet hoe graag ik een fel rode pedi draag. Helaas dekt deze lak erg slecht, dit zijn 3 lagen. De kleine zilveren glittertjes erin zijn wel mooi.

This Cupcake Mani must be almost 2 years old. It's a shame I never posted it. I did both hands and wore it for a birthday party.

Deze Cupcake Mani moet ongeveel 2 jaar oud zijn ofzo. Het is een schande dat ik dit niet eerder heb gepost. Ik heb toen allebei mijn handen gedaan en droeg het voor een verjaardag.

Essence Grand-Plie in Black. This black jelly polish with orange glitter came from the Ballerina Backstage collection. The only polish that I really liked from that collection. This is without topcoat, look how glossy it is!

This really helps me clean up some folders on my laptop. Now I have room for newer swatches that I really need to work on soon because my Drawer of Untrieds is completely full! I think there are close to 100 polishes in the drawer  that need to be photographed :-s

Dit helpt me al heel erg met het opruimen van wat mapjes op mijn laptop. Nu heb ik wat meer ruimte om te werken aan swatches uit mijn Lade met Ongebruikte Lakjes, want die zit propvol!!! Ik denk dat er wel bijna 100 lakjes in zitten die ik nog moet fotograferen :-s

Woohoo! My Transdesign package arrived!!! Come and take a look at my haul. Picture-heavy, lots of bottleshots & swatches.

More than two weeks ago, exactly on the date they started selling the OPI Burlesque polishes, I ordered some polishes from Transdesign. Usually they arrive in a week, but this time it took like forever to get here. Today I found out why it took so long: a week ago my extremely elderly neighbour accepted the package in my behalf and it has been laying there since this evening.

Meer dan twee weken geleden, precies op de datum dat de OPI Burlesque lakken in de verkoop gingen, heb ik wat lakjes bij Transdesign besteld. Meestal heb ik de bestelling in een week binnen, maar deze keer leek het wel een eeuw te duren voordat mijn pakje er was. Vandaag kwam ik er achter waarom het zo vreselijk lang duurde: mijn ontzettend bejaarde buurvrouw heeft het pakje een week geleden in ontvangst genomen en daar heeft mijn pakje gelegen tot vanavond.

Orly - Luxe

This polish really does it's name justice, it's bottled luxe and makes your nails look very luxurious
Deze lak doet zijn naam eer aan, het is luxe in een flesje en het geeft je nagels een hele luxueuse uitstraling

Color
Gold. There are many colors gold, this one looks like real gold to me, although I don't ever wear gold myself.
It's a veeeeryyyy shiny foil that even shines in low light.

Kleur
Goud. Er zijn veel kleuren goud, maar deze vind ik op echt goud lijken, al draag ik eigenlijk nooit goud.
Het is een heel erg glimmend folielakje dat zelfs met weinig licht nog heeeeeel erg glimt.

Application
Very smooth and even application, drytime was good. I expexted to see brushstrokes, but it looked great.

Applicatie
Heel soepel en gladde appliactie, prima droogtijd. Ik verwachtte dat je strepen van het borsteltje in de lak zou blijven zien, maar die zie je niet en het ziet er hardstikke goed uit.

When I wanted to photograph this polish it was very cloudy. As you can see I even took my camera outside with me to take pictures on my lunchbreak, but then it started to rain. Sigh, I think making pictures is going to be a real chore the next couple of months.

Toen ik deze lak ging fotograferen was er geen zonlicht. Zoals je ziet had ik zelfs mijn fototoestel mee naar buiten genomen om foto's te maken in mijn lunchpauze, maar toen begon het te regenen. Zucht, ik denk dat het maken van goede foto's de komende wintermaanden erg lastig gaat worden.

Orly Star Spangled - Vampy, glittery red hot love in a bottle

Ik wil graag beginnen met alvast mijn excuses aan te bieden voor de ongelijke nagels, de gerafelde nagelriemen en de waardeloze clean-up. Ik beloof beterschap voor de toekomst. Laten we nu kijken naar Orly Star Spangled.

I would like to start with apologizing for the uneven nails, the raggedy cuticles and the lack of clean-up. I promise to do better in the future. Now let's get a closer look at Orly Star Spangled.

Kleur
Rood jelly vol met fijne rode glittertjes. Ik vind 'm echt prachtig, de kleur rood is perfect, niet te licht, niet te donker en de glitters erin lijken honderden kleine lampjes. Ken je de term 'lit from within'? Dat is deze lak, echt geweldig.
Oh en ik heb China Glaze Ruby Pumps geleend van mijn zusje, dus ik zal binnenkort een comparison hiermee maken.

Colour
Red jelly filled with small red glitters. I just love this polish, the colour red is perfect, not too light, not to dark and the glitter looks like hundreds tiny bulbs of light. Have you heard about 'lit from within'? That's just what this polish is!
Oh and I borrowed China Glaze Ruby Pumps from my sister so I will make a compsarison soon.

Applicatie
Geweldig, de lak is wat dun en uiteraard zijn er een boel lagen nodig om de lak dekkend te krijgen, maar dat krijg je met jelly's. Omdat de lak zo dun is zie je wel de glitters door iedere laag nog prachtig glimmen.

Application
Great, the polish is quite liquid and ofcourse you need multiple layers for opacity, but you always have that with jelly's. Because the polish is sheer you can see the glitter sparkling through every layer of polish, it's very pretty.

Het mooiste aan deze lak is dat 'ie in ieder verschillend soort licht er echt anders uitziet. Dit zie je ook heel duidelijk in de foto's, binnen is de lak echt heel vampy. Dit was het soort lak waarvan ik het vreselijk jammer vond om 'm eraf te moeten halen, ik kreeg er geen genoeg van!

The best thing about this polish is how it looks different in every kind of lighting. You can see this clearly in my pictures. Indoors this polish is really vampy! This is the kind of polish I hated to have to take off, I just couldn't get enough of it!

My first matte: Orly - Iron Butterfly

Ruim een week geleden ging ik op zondagavond naar Alice in Wonderland. Natuurlijk had ik mijn OPI Mad as a Hatter op moeten doen, maar ik was slecht voorbereid, de film draaide erg vroeg en uiteindelijk moest ik héél snel mijn nagels lakken. Dus besloot ik mijn eerste matte lak te proberen: Orly Iron Butterfly.

Sunday over a week ago I went to see Alice In Wonderland. I know I should've worn OPI's Mad as a Hatter, but I was ill-prepared, the movie started earlier as expected so I had to do a quick mani. So I decided to try out my first matte polish: Orly Iron Butterfly.

Kleur
Mat zwart met heel veel hele fijne zilveren glittertjes.
Ik vond het heel mooi, maar moest wel wennen aan de matte finish. Als ik ernaar keek dan had ik steeds het gevoel dat er iets miste, dat mn manicure nog niet af was ofzo.

Colour
Matte black with lots of small silver glitter in it.
It's pretty, but I have to get used to the matte finish. Every time I looked at it I felt like something was missing, like the mani wasn't complete or something


Applicatie
Als een droom, één laag is vrijwel dekkend, met twee lagen is het perfect. Droogtijd is geweldig: een minuutje per laag.

Application
it applies like a dream, one coat gives you almost full coverage, with two coats you have a perfect opaque result. Drying time is amazing: one minute per coat.


Commentaar
Binnen een dag was de lak vreselijk beschadigd. Er waren stukken lak op het midden van meerdere nagels eraf gekrast, misschien gebeurd toen ik iets uit mijn tas pakte? Je mag natuurlijk geen topcoat over de matte lak dragen dus dacht ik wel dat het sneller zou beschadigen, maar dit was wel erg overdreven. Misschien heeft dat te maken met de speciale formule van matte lak? Volgende keer toch maar een lekkere dikke laag glossy topcoat eroverheen.

Comments:
Within a day the polish was terribly damaged. Pieces of polish were scratched off on the middle of some nails, maybe this happened while grabbing something out my bag? You are not supposed to wear topcoat over matte polish, so I was aware that the polish would chip quicker, but it was much worse then I expected. Maybe it also has to do something with the formula of matte polish?
Maybe next time I wear this polish I'll wear it with a nice thick layer of glossy polish.

PS- Alice in Wonderland is een hele leuke film. Ik ben groot fan van alle films die Tim Burton maakt dus ik ben bevooroordeeld, maar ik raad iedereen aan om de film te gaan kijken.

PS- Alice in Wonderland is a really good movie. I'm a big fan of all movies made by Tim Burton, so I am predjudiced, but I advise everyone to go see this movie.
