My new favorite basic: Essence Rebel at Heart (The Metals)

Een paar weken terug was ik een heerlijk weekend met mijn schoonzus in Scheveningen.

Ergens tussen het proosten door (drank vloeide rijkelijk die dag) liepen we door een Kruitvat en kocht ik Esence Rebel at Heart. Hij glimde prachtig en de dronken ekster in mij moest deze lak hebben.

Nou ben ik eigenlijk normaal niet zo gek op de lakken van Essence, ik krijg er meestal niet meer dan 2 dagen (als ik mazzel heb) goede draagtijd van. Als werkende moeder wil ik op werkdagen mijn nagels niet tussendoor hoeven bijwerken of overnieuw moeten lakken, dus kies ik meestal voor een meer high end merk zodat ik zeker weten perfect gelakte nagels heb op werk.

Je snapt dat ik dus verbaasd was toen deze mooie lak na dag 1 nog perfect zat

Na dag 2 zat deze lak ook nog prachtig

Aan het einde van dag 3 had ik lichte slijtage, niet meer dan bij een duur merk en dat voor een bedrag van € 1,89

Ik ben dus erg enthousiast over hoe goed deze lak blijft zitten. Mag ik nog even doorgaan met enthousiast zijn? Want deze lak dekt ook waanzinnig goed! Je kan wegkomen met 1 laag, maar we weten allemaal dat als je het écht perfect wil hebben dat je er dan altijd twee doet, zelfs als het niet echt nodig is. Het geeft meer kleur en diepte. Maak je niet druk over de droogtijd, die is super snel!

Het borsteltje en de dikte van de lak zorgden er ook voor dat ik keurig kon lakken zonder dat er veel lak buiten de lijntjes kwam.

De kleur van de lak is super glimmend en is perfect voor alle gelegenheden en type personen. Chique, stoer, werk, festivals, jong, oud...  Super alleen óf als basis voor nailart met stencils ofzo. Het lijkt wel of ik betaald word om dit te zeggen, maar dat is helaas niet zo :-)
Het is echt een geweldige lak en ik heb al een backup gekocht!

Dus als je € 1,89 kan missen en je vindt dit een mooie lak, dan raad ik 'm heel erg aan.

This is a one coat wonder, but I did two because a true nailaholic knows how much more joy an extra layer of polish gives you. It adds more color, depth and weartime.
About the weartime; awesome! 

Usually I'm a snob about budget brands because they just don't last as long on me as most of their more expensive collegues, but this polish lasted 3 days without losing it's magic.

The polish and brush are perfect for an flawless result, if you are careful you almost don't need cleanup round the edges.

Matte purple + metallic nails with smART Nails - Day 7

Ok, the people of smART Nails are not going to be happy with my next tip, but you can use one stencil several times. Why waste a perfectly good product??? The stencil sticks really well to your nails and if you make sure the polish you used is completely dry on the stencil, you can use it again easily, it keeps giving you a sharp design a second time around. And maybe a third also, but I can only say I used each stencil twice and that worked great for me.

 I'm seriously considering this my Chrismas manicure, it's classy with a touch of bling.
Or I could go really over the top with the bling ofcourse and forget about the classy...not sure yet, but this mani is in theory a perfect Christmas manicure.

Catrice Luxury Lacquers - Chromeo & Julia

A limited edition duo-chrome nail polish by Catrice called Chromeo & Julia.

Completely opaque in one coat, but I did two coats because the first coat was very sloppy and had some streaks in it because of that.

The duo-chrome effect is very strong, stronger than it may appear on the pictures. Sometimes my nails are completely a fiery golden color, sometimes they are a bright metallic reddish pink, most of the time it looks like I have a sunset on my nails.

I really like this polish, and the fact that it's a onecoater makes me like it even more. Oh and it dried really fast too!

This is a limited edition polish, I bought it at Kruidvat a few weeks ago, I don't know if it it still available.

I took the pictures this morning after a full day (and night) of wear, as you can see the tipwear is minimal.

I took the pictures early this morning. There is no direct sunlight in the livingroom in the morning, so I squatted on the ground before my front door in my homewear to take these pictures. Fortunately no neighbors passed by :-)

Herôme - Lille + One Minute Dry Spray. Swatches and review.

This spring Herôme gives us a collection inspired by France, the collection has two bright creme colors and four more natural metallic colors. I already showed you the hot pink Lyon earlier, today I'm showing you the classy but glamorous Lille.

Deze lente heeft Herôme een collectie voor ons die is geïnspireerd door Frankrijk, de collectie heeft twee felle creme lakjes en vier meer natuurlijke metallic kleurtjes. De fel roze Lyon heb ik al eerder laten zien, vandaag heb ik de keurige maar glamorous Lille voor jullie.

Color
This is a golden metallic, but if you look closely there is also some silver in it. A very pretty color and suitable for most occasions. If you don't like to wear bright colors ( or for some reason aren't allowed to wear those ) but still want to stand out than Lille is your polish. The metallic finish really gives it something extra and I expect it looks amazing in full sunlight.

Kleur
Dit is een gouden metallic, maar als je goed kijkt zie je dat er ook wat zilver doorheen zit. Een erg mooi kleurtje dat geschikt is voor de meeste gelegenheden. Als je niet van fel gekleurde nagellak houdt ( of het om welke reden dan ook niet mag dragen ) maar wel graag iets bijzonders op je nagels wil dan is Lille een goede keuze. Die metallic finish geeft het echt iets extras en ik verwacht dat dit er geweldig uitziet in direct zonlicht.

Application
Applies like a dream and has great coverage. If you apply your polish thick you could get away with one coat, I did two because I like that better.

Applicatie
Deze lak smeert heerlijk en dekt goed. Als je de lak dik aanbrengt gebruikt dan zou je genoeg hebben aan één laag, maar ik deed er twee omdat ik dat mooier vind.

One Minute Dry Spray
As most of you girls I love to paint my nails, but don't have the patience or time to wait an entire evening for them to dry. That's where this spray comes in handy, it promises dry nails in a minute.
First I applied Herome ridge filling basecoat ( which I use always ). After I applied the second coat of Lille I waited a minute and then I used the Dry Spray.
I did two short sprays on each nail ( one for each layer of polish ) and waited for two minutes.
After that my nails were dry to the touch, but a little pressure resulted in major dents. 
My opinion: Dry in a minute? Yes, but only the top layer. Hard in one minute? No.

One Minute Dry Spray
Zoals de meesten van jullie ben ik gek op het lakken van mijn nagels, maar ik heb echt niet het geduld of de tijd om een hele avond te wachten tot ze eindelijk eens droog zijn. In dat geval is deze spray heel handig, het belooft je droge nagels in een minuut.
Eerst deed ik mijn gebruikelijke Herome ridge filling basecoat op. Daarna twee dunne laagjes Lille en wachtte een minuutje voordat ik de Dry Spray gebruikte.
Per nagel deed ik twee korte 'pufjes' van de spray ( één pufje per laag ) en wachtte nog twee minuutjes.
Daarna voelden mijn nagels inderdaad droog aan, maar als ik er een klein beetje tegenaan tikte had ik al deuken in de lak.
Mijn mening: Droog in een minuut? Ja, maar alleen stofdroog. Hard in een minuut? Nee.

SpaRitual - Lustress

I love my polishaddiction, but the worst thing about it is my huge drawer filled with untrieds. There are some real gems in there that are waiting for months, sometimes years to be worn or swatched. This is one of those gems that I found in that drawer that has been waiting there for almost half a year to be swatched.

Ik hou van mn nagellak verslaving, mar het nadeel is mijn grote lade vol met ongeprobeerde lakjes. Er zitten echt wat juweeltjes in die la die daar maanden of soms jaren wachten om gedragen of geswatched te worden. Dit is één van die juweeltjes die ik in die lade vond en er zeker al een half jaar heeft staan wachten om geswatched te worden.

Color
Light metallic red. On these pictures (who are quite coloraccurate) the color seems bright, but it's less bright and very cool-toned in real life. It's a very wearable red that might look better on someone with a lighter skin.

Kleur
Licht metallic rood. Op deze foto's ( die best kleur echt zijn ) lijkt de kleur vrij fel, maar het is minder fel en een koelere kleur als je 'm in het echt ziet. Hele draagbare rood die vast beter staat bij iemand die een paar huidkleurtjes lichter is.

Application
Great, no streeks, nice brush, two coats for perfect coverage.
Oh and it's ofcoarse a completely vegan product!

Applicatie
Super, geen stepen, fijn borsteltje, perfecte dekking in twee laagjes.
Oh en het is een volledig veganistisch product!

Lost & Found 1: swatch pictures of LA Girl Metal - Graphite + unncessary but fun decoration

I found these pictures in a sub-folder somewhere on my computer. Why didn't I post these after I edited them? I just 'lost' them I guess between other pictures of swatches I keep in different folders. I really have too many polish-related crap on my comuter and through my entire home. Sigh. But it was nice to find them when I wasn't even looking for them.

Ik vond deze foto's in een sub-mapje ergens op mijn computer. Waarom heb ik ze niet gepubliceerd gelijk nadat ik ze bewerkt heb? Ik ben ze gewoon 'kwijt geraakt' tussen alle andere foto's van swatches die ik in verschillende mapjes bewaar. Ik heb echt te veel nagellak-gerelateerde troep op mijn computer en door mn hele huis. Zucht. Maar het was wel leuk om de foto's te vinden terwijl ik er niet eens naar aan het zoeken was.

Color
Dark grey, leaning black with silver foil finish
The name is totally not original, but very appropriate

Kleur
Donker grijs, bijna zwart met zilver foil erin.
De naam is zeker niet origineel, maar wel heel toepasselijk

I'm sorry, but I can't tell you anything about the application because I made these swatches months ago and I just can't remember anymore.

Het spijt me, maar ik kan je niets vertellen over de applicatie van deze lak omdat ik deze swatches maanden geleden heb gemaakt en ik kan het me niet meer herinneren.

When I made these swatches, I had a week off and just received some nailart wheels that week, so I don't need to explain to you why I added all the stones. Would I really wear it like this as a full mani? Probably not, it wouldn't be very practical, but I do like the look.

Toen ik deze swatches maakte, had ik een weekje vrij en ontving in die week wat nailart wheels die ik had besteld, dus ik hoef je niet uit te leggen waarom ik al die steentjes erop gedaan heb. Zou ik het zo dragen als een volledige mani? waarschijnlijk nie, het zou niet heel praktisch zijn, maar ik vind het er wel leuk uitzien.

In the same folder I found some swatches of Bourjois Blue Violet with some shiney stones added to it, so stay tuned for some more unnecessary but fun decorations out of my Lost&Found folder!

In dezelfde map vond ik ook wat swatches van Bourjois Blue Violet met ook weer gezellig glimmende steentjes erbij, dus de volgende keer meer onzinnige maar leuke versieringen uit mijn Verdwenen&Gevonden mapje!

Ladies ( and Gents ) I'd like to introduce to you my new Go-To polish *drumroll*...Misa- Like it Like That!!!!

It was love on first sight when I saw this polish for the very first time on Scrangies blog. Yess I even know when and where I saw the first swatch. It's so glossy and green and  perfect. So ofcourse I bought it. I've worn it at least 4 times since I bought it and that's something I rarely do. When I'm confused about all the untried polishes I have and don't know which one to wear next...I put on Misa Like it Like That! Makes no sense at all, but this polish makes me happy.

Het was liefde op het eerste gezicht toen ik deze lak voor het eerst zag op Scrangies blog. Ja ik weet echt nog waar ik de eerste swatch heb gezien. Het is zo glanzend en groen en perfect. Dus natuurlijk heb ik 'm toen gelijk gekocht. Sindsdien heb ik deze lak al zeker 4 keer gedragen en dat is vrij bijzonder voor mij. Als ik in de war ben van alle prachtige ongebruike lakjes die wachten om gedragen te worden en ik niet kan kiezen met welke ik begin...dan draag ik Misa Like it Like That! Slaat natuurlijk nergens op, maar ik word wel heel blij van deze lak.

Color
Gorgeous green metallic extremely glossy finish like you already used topcoat. In some lighting you can see some teal in it, but believe me when I say: IT'S GREEN!

Kleur
Prachtige groene metallic met een supergeweldige glans erover alsof je al topcoat hebt gebruikt. In sommig licht zie je er ook wel een blauwe kleur in, maar geloof me als ik zeg: HET IS GROEN!

Application
If I ever get to meet the person who is responsible for Misa's formula, I'm going to give that person, male of female, a big fat wet smooch right on the lips! I think Misa has the best application of all brands I know.
This polish was great in one coat, but it was perfection in two.

Applicatie
Als ik ooit de persoon ontmoet die verantwoordelijk voor de samenstalling van Misa's lakken, dan geef ik die persoon, man of vrouw, een dikke vette natte pakkerd vol op de mond! Ik vind dat de applicatie van Misa's lakken het beste is van alle andere die ik ken.
Deze lak was mooi in één laag en perfect in twee.

De foto's hierboven zijn allemaal gemaakt in direct zonlicht, hieronder laat ik je een foto zien zonder direct zonlicht zodat je kan zien hoe deze lak er het grootste gedeelte van de tijd uitziet.

I also wore this polish when my mom and I had a cocktailworkshop ( that was fun!!!! ) and I thought it would be nice to show you some pictures of this polish in action at the cocktail workshop :-)

Ik droeg deze lak ook tijdens een cocktailworkshop die ik deed met mijn moeder ( dat was heel leuk!!!) en dacht dat het misschien wel leuk zou zijn om je wat foto's te laten zien van de lak in actie op de cocktail workshop :-)

Ahhh look at my happy face, cocktails have that effect on me.

And the polish goes great with all the colorful drinks we prepared ( and drank )

Ahhh kijk eens naar mijn blije hoofd, dat komt door de cocktails

En het lakje kleurde perfect bij alle kleurige drankjes die we hebben gemakt (en gedronken)

Hema grey Metallic Nailpolish + some heavy metal from Konad M69

I bought this gorgeous nailpolish a few months ago but never had the time to swatch it. Such a shame because it's very pretty. When I swatched it I felt it would look great with a little 'rock&roll' added to it. So I stamped some heavy metal chains on it.

Ik kocht deze prachtige lak een paar maanden geleden, maar had nooit de tijd om het te swatchen. Echt zonde want het is een prachtig lakje. Toen ik 'm geswatched had vond ik dat deze lak wel nog wat meer 'rock&roll' kon gebruiken, dus ik heb wat heavy metal kettingen erop gestempeld.

Color
Graphite chuckfull with tiny siler glitter for that metallic look.

Kleur
Antraciet propvol met fijne zilveren glitter voor die metallic look.

Application
Nice, two coats was enough, but I did three just to be sure.
Drytime was good and removal was a bit of a hassel as the fine glitter ended up almost up to my ears.

Applicatie
Goed, twee laagjes zag er al super uit, ik deed er toch drie voor de zekerheid.
Droogt redelijk snel en verwijderen was wel pittig, die fijne glittertjes zitten dan bijna tot in je oren.

I stamped with Konad plate M69, wich has some awesome designs on it. And used China Glaze Millennium as stampingpolish. It dries quickly so you'll have to work fast

Ik heb gestempeld met Konad plaat M69, welke echt geweldige designs heeft. De stempellak is China Glaze Milelnnium, deze droogt snel dus je moet snel werken.

Tonight I went to the rock-musical 'We Will Rock You' with my mom. Looking at this mani with the chains it makes me want to sing "I want to break free, I've got to break free, God nows I want to break freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Pieuwwiewiewiewwiewwiiieeeuuuuuuww (=guitarsolo sung badly by myself)"

Vanavond ben ik naar de rock-musical 'We Will Rock You' geweest met mijn moeder. Als ik naar deze mani kijk dan wil ik heel hard zingen: "I want to break free, I've got to break free, God nows I want to break freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Pieuwwiewiewiewwiewwiiieeeuuuuuuww (= kneitervalse gitaarsolo door mij gezongen)"

Playing with Color Club polishes: Rule Breaker + Wild at Heart

In december I had a week off ( seems like ages ago now ) and in that week I had some time to try out a few things with nailpolish. I just love the combination of teals and purple in my clothing and make-up so wanted to try something in those colors on my nails.
For my very perceptive readers: yes I'm wearing one fake nail in these pictures. I tore up the nail on my ringfinger very badly and bought fake nails so I could still do some swatching. Never used fake nails before, but it worked out great this time.

In december had ik een weekje vrij ( lijkt ondertussen wel een eeuw geleden ) en in die week had k wat tijd over om wat dingen met nagellak uit te proberen. De combinatie zeegroen met paars vind ik echt prachtig, ik doe dit ook wel eens in kleding en make-up, dus het leek me leuk om ook iets met nagellak te proberen in deze kleuren.
Voor de zeer oplettende lezer: ja ik draag één nepnagel op deze foto's. Ik had de nagel van mijn ringvinger echt gigantisch ingescheurd en heb nepnagels gekocht zodat ik toch nog wat kon swatchen. Ik had nog nooit eerder nepnagels geprobeerd, maar het werkte dit keer erg goed.

Color
Color Club - Rule Breaker - a metallic green teal, lovely color!
Color Club - Wild at Heart - a holographic purple

Application
Great. I expected it to be thicker and more opaque, but it builds up nicely and hardly any streeking.
The brush is nice too, I could paint quite precise with it so I had little clean up to do before I took the pictures.

Applicatie
Prima. Ik had verwacht dat de lak wat dikker en dekkender zou zijn, maar verder heb je al snel een goed resultaat met vrijwel geen zichtbare kwast-strepen. Fijn kwastje ook, ik kon (voor mijn doen ) erg precies lakken en ik hoefde bijna niet schoon te maken voordat ik de foto's nam.

I freehanded the funky french and added the coloured nailart stones with a dottingtool.
This was not a full mani but I would like to wear something like this as a full mani sometimes!

Ik heb de funky french uit de losse pols getekend en heb de gekleurde nailart steentjes er met een dottingtool op gezet.
Dit was geen volledige mani, maar het lijkt me wel leuk om zoiets met deze kleuren een keer als een volledige mani te dragen!

BYS - Sahara Sands

Goodmorning everyone! When I look out my window I see it's a very sunny day today! I wish my order from Transdesign with my chosen part of the Burlesque collection would finally arrive ( it's been two weeks now ) this weather is perfect for swatching and I'm dying to see those in real life.
For now I have a swatch of an Australian chrome polish for you

Goeiemorgen allemaal. Als ik uit mijn raam kijk zie ik dat het een prachtige zonnige dag is vandaag. Ik wou dat mijn Transdesign pakketje met een paar Burlesque lakjes eindelijk binnen was ( ik heb twee weken geleden besteld), dit weer is perfect om wat swatches te fotograferen en ik sta zowiezo te springen om de lakjes in het echt te zien.
Voor vandaag heb ik een swatch van een Australische chrome lak voor jullie:

Color
Copper with a metallic finish, not too dark, not too light.
I say metallic finisch because it doesn't look like the chrome finishes we know from China Glaze and I think those look more like chrome to me.

Kleur
Koper met een metallic glans, niet te donker, niet te licht.
Ik zeg metallic glans omdat ik het niet vergelijkbaar vind met de chrome glans van China Glaze en die vind ik meer op chrome lijken.

Application
Different then I expected. I only have chrome polishes by China Glaze and they have a really distinct texture and application. This BYS polish is different, it's thin, a bit sheer and needed 3 coats for opacity. The drytime was good, but not faster then a regular polish. Eventhough it's not what I expected, the endresult looks nice!

Applicatie
Aners dan ik had verwacht. Ik heb een paar van de China Glaze chrome's en dit zijn hele specifieke lakken met een bijzondere applicatie. Deze BYS lak is anders, vrij dun, dekt niet heel goed, ik had 3 lagen nodig voor een dekkend resultaat. Hij droogde prima, maar niet sneller dan een normale lak. Ondanks dat het niet direct was wat ik ervan verwacht had, is het wel een mooie lak.

This color needed something to spice it up, so I used some Viva La Nails waterdecals. I think they look very nice and classy with this polish. Very work appropriate.

deze kleur had wel iets nodig om het een beetje opvallender te maken, dus heb ik een paar waterdecals van Viva La Nails gebruikt. Ik vind het zelf een mooi en best netjes resultaat geven. Heel eg geschikt om op het werk te dragen.

I got this polish in a swap with Aussie Michelle from Cosmetic Cupcake, we did this swap a few months ago and I only started swatching the polishes she chose for me recently. If you ever have the chance to do a swap with australian polishes I highly recommend you do this, they have some great brands.

Ik kreeg deze lak in een swap met Aussie Michelle van Cosmetic Cupcake, we deden deze swap een paar maanden geleden en ik ben pas net begonnen met het swatchen van de lakjes die ze me gaf. Als je ooit de kans hebt om met iemand te swappen uit australië dan raad ik dat erg aan. Ze hebben een paar prachtige merken daar.
