My first Ultra Chrome flakies by PolishAlcoholic: Baby Boom Galaxy and Fireworks Galaxy

When the first pictures of the ILNP ultrachrome flakies showed up, I immediately knew I needed ultra chrome flakies in my life as I had never seen anything like it in my life. Soon after I noticed more indies making their own incredible versions with these flakies and I fell in love with the flakies by PolishAlcoholic and I was surprised to find out she is a Dutchie, like me! Yay for Dutch Indie brands!!!
I ordered two of her flakies on Sunday and received them on Tuesday and did a quick swatch immediately with both of them (over a nude polish) because I just couldn't wait ty try them out!

Bring on the Ooohhh's and Aaahhh's ladies, because this is some serious nailporn!
The green is Baby Boom Galaxy and the purple is Fireworks Galaxy and they are magical. Feast you eyes on this!

My favorite is by FAR Baby Boom Galaxy, because the flakies reflect a rainbow of colors and the dominant color is green, which I love.
But just look at that bottle I'm holding, that is Fireworks Galaxy, pretty amazing too, right?

I might have a small problem now, because two ultra chrome flakies are not enough to satisfy my newest addiction. Buy all the ultra chrome flakies!!!!!!!

Golden Oldie Thursday (GOT) Polish Challenge with Misa 'Party in the Masquerade' and Gosh 'Rainbow'

Pink is not my favorite color, unless it's a holo, glitter or neon (or preferably all of the above). For april 17th the GOT theme is Hot Pink, so I grabbed one of the best pink polishes I own: Misa Party in the Masquerade.

I actually wanted to do a totally different nailart, but I couldn't find my striping tape when I sat down to decorate the pink polish. So I just did whatever came to mind and this is the result. I'm not happy with it, but at least it photographed well enough to get some decent pictures :-)

With my limited nailart skills (and lack of patience and time to perfect them), I'm now looking at some very nice stampingpates from Dashica, check out her Infinity plates, how can you possibly choose just a few????
I think the weekly challenge will be less of a challenge with these plates!

For now, this is all I could come up with for the 'nailart' of this week. This challenge is good for my non-existing nailart skills, so the only way is up from here!
But I think the flakies from Gosh really saved the day in this mani!

OPI - Merry Midnight

OPI Merry Midnight is a polish from the 2009 winter collection Holiday Wishes. I bought this almost immediately after it came out...and then it sat in my stash waiting to be swatched untill two weeks ago.

OPI Merry Midnight is een lakje uit de 2009 winter collectie Holiday Wishes. Ik kocht deze lak vlak nadat de collectie uitkwam...en daarna heeft 'ie in mijn stash zitten wachten tot ik 'm twee weken geleden eindelijk eens ging swatchen.

Color
Purple jelly with lots of red flakies and blue reflecting sparkles of various sizes.

Kleur
Paarse jelly met een heleboel rode flakies en blauw oplichtende glimmertjes van verschillende groottes.

Application
It's a jelly so it's very sheer, but that's a good thing for showing all the flakies an microglitters through every layer. I used three thicker coats on these swatches and you can hardly see my nail line.

Applicatie
Het is een jelly dus de lak is redelijk dun, maar dat is weer goed omdat je dan de flakies en glitters door iedere lag heen kan zien glimmen. Ik heb drie dikke lagen gedaan voor deze swatches en je ziet vrijwel mijn nagel er niet meer doorheen.

Why don't I love this polish? It's purple, it has flakies, it has a nice blue shimmer...I should be head over heels in love with this polish. But I'm not. OPI Merry Midnight goes for $ 32,99 on Ebay.com and I haven't even worn this as a full mani yet. Maybe if I wear it for a few days as a full mani it wil grow on me? Hmmm if I have nothing to wear on my nails I will give this polish a chance.

Waarom vind ik deze lak niet geweldig? Het is paars, er zitten flakies in, er zitten mooie blauwe glimmertjes in...ik zou tot over mijn oren verliefd moeten zijn op dit lakje. Maar dat is dus niet zo. OPI Merry Midnight staat voor $ 32,99 op Ebay.com en ik heb 'm nog niet eens als een volledige mani gedragen. Misschien als ik deze lak een paar dagen draag dat ik dan ook ineens het licht zie? Hmmmm, als ik een keer niets heb om op mijn nagels te dragen dat ik deze lak dan een kans moet geven.

Pimp my mani: One week with Misa - Green With Envy ( + Black Shatter & Flakies )

If I know I have a busy week ahead of me in which I have little time to do my nails, I usually do my nails with a Misa polish because then I know it will last me a week without chipping. So two weeks ago I took Green With Envy out of the untrieds and 'pimped' it during the week.

Als ik vooraf weet dat ik een drukke week ga hebben waarin ik weinig tijd heb om mijn nagels te doen, dan doe ik meestal een lak van Misa op zodat ik weet dat het een week zonder beschadigingen blijst zitten. Dus twee weken geleden heb ik Green With Envy uit de ongebruike lakjes gehaald en heb het gedurende de week 'gepimpt'.

Color
Lime green, very bright and cheerful color, perfect for spring!

Limoen groen, erg heldere en vrolijke kleur, perfect voor de lente!

I've complimented the formula of Misa many times on this blog, everything I said then also applies to this one.

Applicatie
Geweldig.
Ik heb de lakken van Misa al zo vaak de hemel in geprezen op mijn blog en alles wat ik toen zei, geldt ook voor deze lak.

On Day 3 of this mani, my mom bought me a bottle of OPI Black Shatter when we were at Sephora's. She also bought one for herself, don't I have the coolest mom?
Ofcourse I couldn't resist trying it on one pinky, but after that I had to do the other 9 nails also because I couldn't walk around with one shattered pinky for the rest of the week.

Op Dag 3 van deze mani kocht mijn moeder een flesje OPI Black Shatter voor me toen we in Sephora's waren. Ze heeft voor zichzelf ook een flesje gekocht, heb ik niet de stoerste mama?
Natuurlijk moest ik de Shatter op één pinkje proberen, maar daarna moest ik de andere 9 nagels ook doen omdat ik niet de rest van de week met één shattered pinkje wilde rondlopen.

This combination is great, it makes me think of crocodileskin on my nails :-)
Deze combinatie is echt tegek, het doet me denken aan krokodillenleer op mn nagels :-)

On Day 5 a few colleagues and I had planned to go to the pub for some drinks and laughs. So I wanted to give my mani a little something extra and added Gosh Rainbow flakies to it. I never would have thought I would love this combination as much as I did. It just completed that reptile-look and I was totally in love with it.

Op Dag 5 hadden een paar collega's en ik afgesproken om wat te gaan drinken en ouwehoeren in een pub. Dus ik wilde deze mani nog wat extra's geven en heb er een laagje Gosh Rainbow flakies overheen gedaan. Ik had niet verwacht dat ik deze combinatie zo ontzettend mooi zou vinden. Het gaf de lak nog meer de uitstraling van een reptielen-huid en ik was er erg verliefd op.

So with one polish I lasted an entire week without getting bored with it! The great shatter and flakies are certaily a combination I will use more often.

Dus met één lakje heb ik een hele week gedaan zonder dat ik het zat werd. De geweldige shatter en flakies zijn absoluut een combinatie die ik vaker samen ga dragen.

December Glitter #5: nails on fire with Nfu Oh #45

Two weeks ago my Love ( aka Eppie ) bought me some Nfu Oh polishes. The first one I wore was this fiery Nfu Oh #45, I just couldn't wait to see how it would look on my nails.

Twee weken geleden kocht mijn Lief ( bijnaam Eppie ) voor Sinterklaas een paar Nfu Oh nagellakken voor me. De eerste die ik droeg was deze vlammende Nfu Oh nr 45, ik kon echt niet wachten hoe deze op mijn nagels zou staan!

Wowwwww just look at this amazing polish!!!!!!!!!!

Wauwwww zie je hoe fantastisch deze kleur is!!!!!!!

Color
Reddish orange jelly with lots of orange/yellow flakies that sometimes reflect some green.
Depending on how the light hits the flakies the polish looks more red or more orange.

Kleur
Roodachtig oranje jelly met heel veel oranje/gele flakies die soms wat groen reflecteren.
Afhankelijk van hoe het licht op de flakies komt, lijkt de lak meer rood of meer oranje.

Application
Wonderful application, no troubles at all with the polish or the brush. Because it´s a jelly it´s very sheer, after three coats I had a nice almost opaque result. On some pictures you still see some VNL, but in real life it was hardly visible, probably because the explosion of color and flakies is so destracting.

Applicatie
Goeie applicatie, geen enkel probleem met de lak of het borsteltje. De lak is redelijk doorzichtig omdat het een jelly is, na drie lagen had ik een bijna dekkend resultaat. Op sommige foto´s zie je mijn nagel er nog een beetje doorheen, maar in het echt zag je er bijna niets van, waarschijnlijk omdat je wordt afgeleid door de explosie van kleur en flakies.

And because it´s december I really had the urge to add glitter to this already glowing mani.
I kept the glitter relatively subtle, which I rarely do, but I didn't want the glitter to outshine the nailpolish.

En omdat het december is had ik de behoefte om nog extra glitter toe te voegen aan een mani die al knalde.
Ik heb de glitter erg subtiel gehouden, wat ik zelden doe, maar ik wilde niet dat de glitter de aandacht wegnam van de nagellak.

For the glitter pattern I first stamped with Konad Plate M63 and China Glaze 2030, after that I traced the lines with a glitter nailart striper.

Voor het glitterpatroontje heb ik eerst gestempeld met Konad plaat M63 en China Glaze 2030, daarna heb ik de lijntjes overgetrokken met een glitter nailart striper.

And for the people who like to wear their polishes a long time: the wear of Nfu Oh flakie polishes is sensational, after 5 days no tipwear at all. I've worn 3 different Nfu Oh flakies so far and they are all that good.

En voor de mensen die hun lak graag lang dragen: de NFU Oh flakie lakjes blijven sensationeel goed zitten, na 5 dagen geen enkele slijtage. Ik heb 3 verschillende Nfu Oh flakie lakjes gedragen tot nu toe en ze zijn allemaal zo goed.

Ziet het er niet uit of mn nagels vlammen met deze kleur en de vurige flakies?

Look at the amazing Nfu Oh polishes my Love gave me for Sinterklaas!!!!

Okay, if you don't live in Holland, you probably don't know what or who Sinterklaas is. In short (and with a little help from wiki to explain it to you ): Sinterklaas is a traditional Winter holiday figure, which the Americans used for the base of Santa Claus ( or Sandy Claws, LOL ). All children get presents from Sinterklaas if they have been nice that year. Sinterklaas rides on a white horse called Amerigo over the rooftops to drop presents through the chimney with help from his helpers who are all called Zwarte Piet ( =Black Pete ). For more info look here, it gives a really nice description of our holiday.
Grown-ups often celebrate Sinterklaas among friends and family just for the fun of it.

Okay now we switch over to what I wanted to show you. I got ALOT of presents for Sinterklaas, but these I just had to share with you: My Love (aka Eppie ) bought me four Nfu Oh's !!!!

Na een korte uitleg voor onze buitenlandse vrienden laat ik jullie nu zien wat ik heb gekregen van Sinterklaas. Ik heb ONWIJS veel gekregen, maar dit wilde ik echt met jullie delen: Mijn Lief ( aka Eppie ) heeft vier Nfu Oh's voor me gekocht!!!

My outrageous rainbow nails, eyes and lips. Playing with colors for my LowLands-look

I'm going to LowLands!!! Woohoo!!! Lowlands is the biggest 3-day musicfestival in The Netherlands and it's held every year in august. Over 60.000 people go to this festival to enjoy music (mostly alternative) and party 24/7 like craaazy for three days in a row. And with that many people, you'll need to put some effort in your looks, otherwise you'll just blend in the crowd.
So I started playing with some of my polishes and eyeshadows and made some picures of it for you to see.

Ik ga naar LowLands!!! Woohoo!!! Oh ik heb er zo veel zin in, 3 dagen bands kijken, de hele dag en nacht feesten en genieten van de bijzondere sfeer daar. Zoals je waarschijnlijk weet zijn er echt meer dan 60.000 mensen daar, dus als je niet volledig in de menigte wil opgaan dan moet je wat aandacht aan je uiterlijk besteden. Daarom ben ik vorige week wat gaan spelen met lakjes en oogschaduws en heb er wat foto's van gemaakt voor jullie om naar te kijken.

Dit is het resultaat van niet kunnen kiezen welke nagellak je op moet doen...dan doe je ze allemaal op. En ik vond het er leuk uitzien. Dus het worden regenboognagels voor LowLands.

I liked the result so I'll be rocking with my rainbownails on LowLands!
Waarschijnlijk doe ik er flakies overheen, Gosh Rainbow lijkt me hier wel toepasselijk bij.
I might put some flakies over it, Gosh Rainbow seems so appropriate with this mani.
Toen ik mijn nagels op bovenstaande manier had gelakt bedacht ik me dat ik daar ook bijpassende oogschaduws bij heb. Dus toen ben ik verschillende dingen daarmee gaan uitproberen. Ik heb deze look nog niet eerder geprobeerd, maar ik vond het resultaat best grappig.

When I polished my nails in all those colors I thought about the eyeshadows that I have that perfectly matched the colors on my nails. So I grabbed my eyeshadows and tried some looks with them. I never tried something like this before, but I thought it looked like fun.

China Glaze DV8 + flakies = win/win situation

These are my NOTW from a couple of weeks back. There wasn't as much sun as there is now (it's hot hot hot now in The Netherlands), but I wore my favourite holo DV8 anyway and to try something different I layerd some Golden Rose flakies on top of it.

Dit zijn mijn NOTW van een paar weken geleden. De zon scheen toen nog niet zo veel als nu, maar toch heb ik mijn favoriete holo nagelak DV8 toen al gedragen en om een keer wat nieuws te proberen heb ik er flakies van Golden Rose overheen gedaan.
Kleur:
DV8 is echt één van mijn top 3 lievelings lakken. De kleur is echt perfect turkooise, meer naar de blauwe kant met een prachtige holo regenboog erin als de zon erop schijnt. Liefde in een flesje is dit.

Color
DV8 really is in my top 3 favourite polishes. the colour is a perfect turqouise ( or teal? ), slightly more blue with a gorgeous holo rainbow when the sun hits your nails. Just love in a bottle.
Applicatie
Perfect, dekt in één laag, maar let op als je meerdere lagen opdoet: laat het tussen door goed drogen anders sleep je een beetje van de onderliggende laag mee en heb je een kale plek op je nagel. En dat willen we uiteraard niet natuurlijk.

Application
Perfect opaque in one layer, but be cautios when using multiple layers: if you don't let the polish dry in between then you will probably drag away some of the layer underneath and you have a bald spot on your nail. And we don't want that now do we ;-)
Golden Rose Scala Effect 07
Ik was niet bekend met dit merk, maar kreeg deze lak toegestuurd na een bestelling die niet helemaal naar wens was verlopen. Ik ben erg gelukkig met mijn flakies, ze lijken sprekend op de Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure die de laatste tijd zo populair is op de blogs. Ik wil back-ups!

Golden Rose Scala Effect 07
This brand is new to me, I received a bottle after an order that didn't turn out as I had planned. I'm really happy with these flakies, they look similar to the Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure that's all over the nailpolish blogs. I need back-ups!
Even iets niet aan deze mani gerelateerd: het is zooo warm en zonnig buiten, als ik niet aan het werk ben dan geniet ik van het weer. Helaas betekent dit ook dat ik wat minder zal bloggen, ik kan niet wijntjes op het terras drinken of lui in het park liggen en bloggen tegelijk. Daarnaast wil ik nu ook liever niet thuis zijn: mijn huis lijkt op een sauna met dit weer. Ik laat de katten alleen nog in de kamers waar geen zon op staat als ik weg ben, met hun lange haren kunnen ze helemaal niet goed tegen deze hitte. Maar goed, dan weten jullie waarom ik wat minder blog.

And something not related to this mani: It's really warm and sunny outside, when I'm not at work I'm enjoying the weather. Unfortunately this also means I'm not blogging that much, I can't drink wine on the terrace or lounge in the park while blogging. Besides that I don't want to be at home that much right now because my livingroom resembles a sauna with this weather. My cats are now only allowed to be in the rooms that don't have much sun during the day, with their longhaired fur they aren't built for this heat! Anayway, now you know why I'm posting less now.
En uiteraard vragen flakies en holo's altijd om meer foto's, gewoon omdat ze er in ieder licht zo leuk uitzien.

And ofcourse flakies and holo's need some extra pictures to show there awesomeness in all the different angles and lighting.
