PolishSis' unposted manis of 2012.

As most of you know, 2012 was a special year for me. I was pregnant and in august I gave birth to our beautiful boy Tyler. Yayyy! Due to extreme fatigue and nausea during pregnancy and being 24/7 on my happy babyblue cloud after Tyler was born, I posted alot less manis this year. But that doesn't mean I didn't try to. I painted my nails often and sometimes even took pictures with the intent to show them to you. It's 2013 now and these pictures are still on my laptop waiting to be shown. So here is a small recap of some of the mani's I wore in 2012, but never posted.
(and if you can make it all the way untill the end of this post, I might have a bonus-babypicture for you :-) )

Zoals de meeste van jullie wel weten, was 2012 een speciaal jaar voor mij. Ik was zwanger en in augustus beviel ik van onze prachtige zoon Tyler. Wegens extreme vermoeidheid en misselijkheid tijdens mijn zwangerschap en wegens extreme blijdschap nadat Tyler was geboren heb ik bijzonder weinig mani's aan jullie laten zien dit jaar. Maar dat betekent niet dat ik niet vele pogingen heb gedaan tot het maken van blogposts. Ik had meestal gelakte nagels en nam er vaak ook foto's van met de bedoeling deze hier te laten zien. Het is nu 2013 en die foto's staan nog steeds op mijn laptop. Dus hier is een kleine samenvatting van lakjes die ik wel gedragen heb, maar nooit heb laten zien.
(en als je het helemaal volhoudt tot het einde van deze blogpost, dan heb ik daar misschien wel een bonus-babyfoto voor je :-) )

Revlon Beach: Very sheer, needed 4 thick coats. I'm not a fan of scented nails.
Revlon Beach: Erg dun, 4 dikke laagjes nodig. Ik ben geen fan van geurtjes op mn nagels.

Kleancolor Red Hot: Lovely red glitters in a red transparent base. Smells awful, drytime is long.Kleancolor Red Hot: Mooie rode glitters in een doorzichtige rode lak. Stinkt gruwelijk en droogt langzaam

Nubar Chocolate Caramel is a caramel color with a light green shimmer. Just lovely.
Nubar Chocolate Caramel is een warme caramel kleur met helder groene shimmer. Mooi kleurtje.

Nubar Black polkadot is a versatile layering polish. Can be worn over almost every polish. 
Nubar Black Polkadot is een veelzijdige topcoat. Je kan deze lak bijna over iedere lak heen dragen.

I looove OPI Pros and Bronze! Ultra small coral and golden flakies in a clear base , 3 coats.
I think this one looks good with every skintone, shape or lengthe of nail.
Oh ik hou van OPI Pros and Bronze! Super fijne koraal en goud kleurige flakies in transparante basis, 3 laagjes.
Ik denk dat deze lak prachtig past bij iedere huidskleur, vorm of lengte van nagel.

Models Own Slate Green is a very pretty teal, application is a breeze.
Models Own Slate Green is een prachtig groenbauw lakje, smeert zo makkelijk op.

If you can't decide which polish to wear...wear them all ;-)
Als je niet kan kiezen welk lakje je op moet doen...draag ze allemaal ;-)

Milani Hi Tech looks amazing in the sun. Not a bright holo, but still pretty.
Milani Hi Tech ziet er super uit in de zon. Geen opvallende holo, maar wel mooi.

I wore Kleancolor Holo Purple over a medium purple. It's not a holo though, but a duochrome glitter.
The smell is very very bad. 
Ik droeg Kleancolor Holo Purple over een  paars lakje. Het is trouwens geen holo, maar een duochrome glitter.
De geur is echt vreselijk.

Zoya Ivanka is one of the best greens I own. Very colorful and sparkly.
Zoya Ivanka is één van mijn mooiste groene lakjes. Heel kleurrijk en glimmend.

Essence Grand-Plie in Black is ultra glossy, I'm not wearing topcoat in this picture!
Essence Grand -Plie in Black is echt super glimmend, ik draag geen topcoat op deze foto!

Essie Tart Deco is perfect for the summer, it looks great if you are a bit tanned!
Essie Tart Deco is perfect voor de zomer, het staat geweldig bij een zongebruind huidje!

Herôme Essaouira is a light green / mint color that gives you a fresh and colorful look!
Herôme Essaouira is een licht groene / mint kleurige lak die je handen een frisse en kleurrijke look geeft!

Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black is a brownish transparent base filled with opalescent duochrome glitters in various sizes. Mostly they shift yellow, orange and green. Very pretty. And like all Kleancolors also very smelly and long drytime.
Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black is een bruinige transparante basis vol met duochrome glitters in verschillende groottes. Voornamelijk kleuren ze geel, oranje en groen. Heel mooi. Zoals alle andere Kleancolors stinken ze als een beerput en drogen langzaam.

OPI Black Spotted. I believe there are no dupes yet. Major tipwear within hours. But I really didn't care, I was just happy I own a bottle.
Opi Black Spotted. Volgens mij is dit een uniek lakje. De lak slijt echt snel aan de punten, al binnen een paar uur. Het kon me weinig schelen, ik was al blij dat ik 'm in mijn bezit heb.

Anny Moonlight is a light metallic eggplant color. Not very  special, but  it looks nice.  Amazing wear, after several days no tipwear.
Anny Moonlight is een lichte metallic aubergine kleur. Niet zo'n speciaal kleurtje, maar het staat wel mooi. Blijft geweldig goed zitten, na meerdere dagen zat het nog perfect.

2B nailpolish. Black with golden glitter. Can't remember a thing about this polish. Looks nice though.
2B nagellak. Zwart met gouden glitters. Ik weet niets meer van dit lakje. Ziet er wel mooi uit.

Herôme Utreg. This polish is named after the town I live in. So obviously I needed to buy  this polish. It's a bright yellow polish with a white/silver shimmer. Needed 4 coats to get good coverage. It was a bit streeky. 
Herôme Utreg. Deze lak heet naar de stad waarin ik woon, dus natuurlijk moest ik deze kopen! Het is een zonnig geel kleurtje met een witte/zilveren shimmer erin. Er waren 4 laagjes nodig voor dit resultaat. Ook was het een beetje streperig.

Herôme Prinsessen nagellak voor kinderen ( Princess nail polish for kids )

Most little girls are interested in playing with make up, but do you want them to play with your nailpolish with the risk of them getting it in their mouths or eyes? Maybe you do, but for those of you who don't Herôme has  the solution for your little girl: Princess nail polish. It's waterbased and easily washes off with lukewarm water so no aggresive chemicals on their precious little nails. 

De meeste kleine meisjes vinden het leuk om met make up te spelen, maar wil je dat ze dat doen met jouw nagellak met het risico dat ze het goedje in hun mond of ogen krijgen? Misschien vind je dat prima, maar als je daar niet zo happig op bent dan heeft Herôme de oplossing voor je kleine meid: Prinsessen nagellak. Het is een nagellak op waterbasis die je makkelijk met wat lauw water afspoelt en er zitten geen agressieve stoffen in.

Color
The Princess nail polish comes in 10 pretty colors. I tested I am Creative. This is a purple, magenta color with silver shimmer. This is the darkest color of the collection, for the bold little princess.

Kleur
Er zijn 10 verschillende kleuren Prinsessen nagellak. Ik heb I am Creative getest. Dit is een paars, magenta lak met zilveren shimmer. Dit is de donkerste kleur van de collectie, voor stoere kleine prinsesjes.

Application.
This was two thick coats. It is a bit sheer and a little bit streeky, but the application still was a hundred times better than I expected it to be with the polish being waterbased and all.
I guess little girls are happy to get to play with the polish and won't care the application isn't perfect. By the time they care about application they are probably old enough to use real nail polish.

Applicatie
Dit zijn twee dikke lagen. De lak is een beetje dun en wat streperig, maar hij ging honderd keer beter op dan ik vooraf verwacht had van een nagellak op waterbasis.
Waarschijnlijk zijn de kleine meisjes al lang blij als ze met nagellak mogen spelen en zal het ze een worst zijn of de applicatie wel perfect is. Tegen de tijd dat ze zich daar zorgen om gaan maken zijn ze al lang toe aan échte nagellak.

Removal

To remove the polish you just put your nails into water, with a little lukewarm water the polish rinses off easily. This was probably my favorite thing about this polish: not having to use my cottonpad and remover. 

Verwijderen

Om deze lak eraf te krijgen hoef je alleen maar je nagels even onder het water te houden, met een beetje lauw water spoelt het er gelijk vanaf. Dit was waarschijnlijk mijn favoriete ding van deze nagellak; geen wattenschijfjes en remover hoeven gebruiken.

Herôme Crackable Color "Malibu"

Hi there, been a long while since my last post. Anyone still with me? Having a baby in my belly distracts me alot and sitting down to write a post is something I rarely have the patience for. But I'm wayyy behind posting mani's, so I'll try to check in a little more often.
How are you all doing? I hope you are all enjoying yourselves and indulging in all the new summer nailpolishes that are out now!

Hoi allemaal, het is echt lang geleden sinds ik voor het laatst een bericht geplaatst heb. Is er nog iemand die me volgt? Een baby in mijn buik hebben is echt afleidend, dus ik heb meestal weinig geduld om even te zitten om een blogpost te schrijven. Maar ik ben heeeel erg achter met het posten van mani's, dus ik zal iets vaker wat plaatsen.

Hoe gaat het met jullie allemaal? Ik hoop dat jullie het naar je zin hebben en jezelf verwennen met al die nieuwe zomerlakjes die nu uitkomen!

This is a mani I wore a long time ago, that's why it has such a winter-y feel to it.
The white polish is Herôme Ottawa (reviewed here) and the sparkly blue crackle is Herôme Malibu, a polish that my Love 'Eppie' gave me.

Dit is een mani die ik al een hele tijd geleden gedragen heb, daarom heeft het zo'n winterse uitstraling.
De witte lak is Herôme Ottawa (hier gereviewd) en de glimmende blauwe crackle is Herôme Malibu, een lak die ik gekregen heb van mijn Lief 'Eppie'.

Color
Sparkly light blue crackle polish, much like China Glaze Crackle Metal 'Oxidized Aqua'.
I was actually all crackled out when my 'Eppie' gave me this polish, but I gave it a try anyway and I'm glad I did. 

Kleur

Glimmend licht blauwe crackle lak , vergelijkbaar met China Glaze Crackle Metal 'Oxidized Aqua'.

Ik was eigenlijk helemaal klaar met het gecrackle toen ik deze lak van mijn 'Eppie' kreeg, maar ik heb 'm toch geprobeerd en ik ben blij dat ik het heb gedaan.

Application

As you can see the crackle effect of this polish is really good! 

One quick coat is all you need.

It reminds me a bit of big chunks of ice on the Arctic.

Applicatie

Zoals je ziet is het crackle effect van deze lak erg goed.

Eén snel laagje is alles wat je nodig hebt.

Het doet me een beetje denken aan ijsscotsen op de Zuidpool

And this is my right hand, I liked the crackle pattern on this one even better.

En dit is mijn rechter hand, daar vond ik het crackle patroontje nog mooier op gelukt.

I'm so proud of myself I finally finished a blogpost!
The baby is very much awake and moving so I had a hard time concentrating, but I did it :-)

Ik ben zo trots dat ik eindelijk weer een blogpost heb geschreven!
De baby is heel erg wakker en beweegt als een gek dus ik had echt problemen met concentreren, maar het is gelukt :-)

Herôme - Lille + One Minute Dry Spray. Swatches and review.

This spring Herôme gives us a collection inspired by France, the collection has two bright creme colors and four more natural metallic colors. I already showed you the hot pink Lyon earlier, today I'm showing you the classy but glamorous Lille.

Deze lente heeft Herôme een collectie voor ons die is geïnspireerd door Frankrijk, de collectie heeft twee felle creme lakjes en vier meer natuurlijke metallic kleurtjes. De fel roze Lyon heb ik al eerder laten zien, vandaag heb ik de keurige maar glamorous Lille voor jullie.

Color
This is a golden metallic, but if you look closely there is also some silver in it. A very pretty color and suitable for most occasions. If you don't like to wear bright colors ( or for some reason aren't allowed to wear those ) but still want to stand out than Lille is your polish. The metallic finish really gives it something extra and I expect it looks amazing in full sunlight.

Kleur
Dit is een gouden metallic, maar als je goed kijkt zie je dat er ook wat zilver doorheen zit. Een erg mooi kleurtje dat geschikt is voor de meeste gelegenheden. Als je niet van fel gekleurde nagellak houdt ( of het om welke reden dan ook niet mag dragen ) maar wel graag iets bijzonders op je nagels wil dan is Lille een goede keuze. Die metallic finish geeft het echt iets extras en ik verwacht dat dit er geweldig uitziet in direct zonlicht.

Application
Applies like a dream and has great coverage. If you apply your polish thick you could get away with one coat, I did two because I like that better.

Applicatie
Deze lak smeert heerlijk en dekt goed. Als je de lak dik aanbrengt gebruikt dan zou je genoeg hebben aan één laag, maar ik deed er twee omdat ik dat mooier vind.

One Minute Dry Spray
As most of you girls I love to paint my nails, but don't have the patience or time to wait an entire evening for them to dry. That's where this spray comes in handy, it promises dry nails in a minute.
First I applied Herome ridge filling basecoat ( which I use always ). After I applied the second coat of Lille I waited a minute and then I used the Dry Spray.
I did two short sprays on each nail ( one for each layer of polish ) and waited for two minutes.
After that my nails were dry to the touch, but a little pressure resulted in major dents. 
My opinion: Dry in a minute? Yes, but only the top layer. Hard in one minute? No.

One Minute Dry Spray
Zoals de meesten van jullie ben ik gek op het lakken van mijn nagels, maar ik heb echt niet het geduld of de tijd om een hele avond te wachten tot ze eindelijk eens droog zijn. In dat geval is deze spray heel handig, het belooft je droge nagels in een minuut.
Eerst deed ik mijn gebruikelijke Herome ridge filling basecoat op. Daarna twee dunne laagjes Lille en wachtte een minuutje voordat ik de Dry Spray gebruikte.
Per nagel deed ik twee korte 'pufjes' van de spray ( één pufje per laag ) en wachtte nog twee minuutjes.
Daarna voelden mijn nagels inderdaad droog aan, maar als ik er een klein beetje tegenaan tikte had ik al deuken in de lak.
Mijn mening: Droog in een minuut? Ja, maar alleen stofdroog. Hard in een minuut? Nee.

Very girly manicure with Herôme - Lyon (+Konad)

This week I decided to wear one of the new Herôme polishes from the France Collection, I chose the very girly and fun Lyon. This color makes me smile because it makes me feel like winter is finally over. This would make a wonderful pedi when it's finally summer!

Deze week besloot ik om één van de nieuwe lakken van de Herôme van de Frankrijk Collectie te dragen, ik koos de meisjesactige en vrolijke Lyon. Deze kleur maakt me vrolijk omdat ik het gevoel krijg dat de winter eindelijk voorbij is. Dit lakje gaat een perfecte kleur zijn op mn teennageltjes als het echt zomer is!

Color

Pink, not too 'Barbie', but it is very pink.
When I first looked at this polish on my nails in daylight it looked much brighter than I expected.

Kleur

Roze, niet té 'Barbie', maar wel opvallend roze.
Toen ik het lakje ophad en voor het eerst in daglicht bekeek viel het me op dat het veel feller was dan ik dacht.

Application

Probably a onecoater if you use thick layers. I used two layers for perfect coverage.

Herôme almost always has an amazing application, that's one of the main things I love about this brand.
And I'm wearing the mani now for the fifth day and it looks as good as new, only some minor tipwear that can hardly be noticed.

Applicatie
Dekt  waarschijnlijk in één laag als je het dik opbrengt. Ik heb twee dunnere laagjes gebruikt voor een perfect dekkend resultaat.
Herôme heeft vrijwel altijd een perfecte applicatie, dat is één van de dingen die ik het fijnste vind aan dit merk.
En ik draag deze mani nu al voor de vijfde dag achter elkaar en het ziet er nog zo goed als nieuw uit, slechts een klein randje slijtage dat je alleen kan zien als je er met je neus bovenop zit.

Konad
I had a day off this week so in the morning after I painted my nails with Lyon I added some stamping to it. I could have done a more 'serious' pattern to make it less girly, but I decided to have some fun with it :-)

Ik had een dagje vrij deze week, dus in de ochtend nadat ik mn nagels gelakt had met Lyon heb ik er wat stempeltjes op gezet. Ik had een wat 'serieuzer' patroontje kunnen gebruiken om het wat minder meisjesachtig te maken, maar ik besloot om er wat lol mee te hebben :-)

My arabic inspired mani with Cult Nails Get It On basecoat & Wicked Fast topcoat / Herôme - Marrakech / SdP XL plate 4

Most friends, family and co-workers are used to me wearing colorful mani's, so I don't get comments on them very often. This mani somehow did got alot of positive attention, everybody liked the color and the stamping. I did too even though I'm not into orange, but the color is just very flattering.
I tried alot of new nailstuff for this mani and I'm going to review them all for you today, there will be alot of text, so no Dutch translations this time. I guess most of you don't need them anyway :-)

Cult Nails - Get It On perfecting basecoat
Ofcourse my mani started with a basecoat. I used Get It On from Cult Nails that Maria, the owner of Cult Nails, so graceously sent to me for review. Maria was a blogger an nail-a-holic before she started her own line of nailpolish, that makes me trust her nailpolishes more because she's 'one of us' and knows what 'we' need: a great looking mani in zero time that lasts a long time. So I had high hopes for these basics!
I always use the same basecoat so it felt weird to use a different one, but it applied nicely. I don't know how to review a basecoat because it's like underwear: you are not supposed to see of feel it, but if it's good it makes everything you put over it look even better. This is a good piece of nail-lingerie

This is not the final bottle design, the 'real' ones look better ;-)

Cult Nail - Wicked Fast  speed dry topcoat
I was very excited to try Wicked Fast, the Cult nails topcoat. Month's back Maria mentioned her new topcoat on her blog R3 Daily and spoke about how even she was surprised how fast it dried her mani. That already made me want to try it and see if it's as good as my go-to topcoat. And I can tell you: Wicked Fast really dries..ehhh..wicked fast!!!! Within 2 minutes my mani ( 3 thick coats of polish ) was dry to the touch, but not completely hardened. After that I didn't keep track of the time, but within half an hour I was washing & drying my hands and getting myself a drink without getting any dents. This topcoat is not thick and very easy to apply. It also doesn't smell as strong as my other topcoats. I think I've used it about 4 times now in the past 2 weeks and I can highly recommend it to everyone.

Herôme - Marrakech
It's a warm orange/coral color with a subtle reddish shimmer. Herôme always gets their inspiration for colors from cities all over the world. This polish was part of the summer collection inspired by Marocco. The polish is a bit thick, next time I'll add a few drops of thinner. It looks good with 2 coats, I did three because there was a little nailline showing through, not much, but I wanted it perfect for the pictures. Got alot of compliments on this color!

Dashica XL SdP image plate
When I wore this mani ( a week ago ) I just received the SdP stampingplates I ordered from Dashica Beauty Shop so ofcourse I wanted to use them right away.
I'm not good at stamping, I often have to remove the stamped image carefully without damaging the basecolor and try it again. This time I didn't, I don't say I did a perfect job, but the plate works great!
What I like most about these plates ( besides they have very nice images on them ) is that the full nail designs actually fit my nail. I don't have long nails and I have a wide nailbed, the Konad designs often don't cover the entire length and width, only if I just cropped my nails and am very precise where I place the stamp. The SdP full nail images are a little bit longer and wider and make application easy for me.

If you are not familiar with Dashica Beauty Shop and you do like stamping, please check it out, Shirley (the owner) creates her own plates and the images are very different and pretty. Shirley was already a nailpolishblogger before she started her own line of nailart so she knows what we need and want. And just to make this post complete I show you my right hand. That's something you don't see here often. This picture was taken in a different light and you can see how much less orange and more coral the polish looks here.

Ik heb de beste vrienden. Echt waar. En natuurlijk is het geen echte post als ik 'm niet online zet, dus hier komt 'ie:

Maria's Guestblog

Op zaterdag 9 juli heb ik mijn PABOdiploma gehaald, mijn lange nagels behouden én bij mijn feestje 2 nagellakken van PolishSis gekregen!
Vandaag dus de tijd genomen mijn groene nagellak te verwijderen (zonder groene nagels over te houden) en mijn nagels nieuw te lakken.

On Saturday the 9th of July I earned my teaching-diploma, I kept my nails long and got 2 polishes from PolishSis!
Today I took the time to remove the green polish I wore ( without having green stained nails ) and used one of the new polishes.

Ik verwachtte dat de kleur die in het potje te zien was, zo op mijn nagels zou komen.
Het is een dunne, lichtblauwe lak. De glitters zijn heel klein, waardoor de lak vooral dromerig blauw is. Een laag brengt dus slecht wat blauwige verkleuring op je nagels aan. Na twee lagen was mijn nagel nog goed te zien, dus ik heb het geduld op kunnen brengen een derde laag aan te brengen.

I expected the color to look the same on my nails as it looks in the bottle.

It's a thin light blue polish. The glitter is very small and looks dreamy. One coat only gives your nails a slight blue coloration. After two coats my nail was still showing through so I tried my patience and added a third coat.

Ik denk dat deze lak ook goed over een andere kleur heen kan (zwart, wit of een andere blauw?) waardoor hij wat feller kan worden en de glitters ook wat meer zichtbaar.

In my opinion this polish goes well layered over other colors ( black, white or another blue? ) wich makes it more bright and allowes the glitters to show up better.

 En toen kwam de kunst van het goed op de foto zetten. Respect voor Inge, voor haar close-ups, mooi weggewerkte lakresten en ultieme glitters! Na verschillende pogingen met en zonder flits, voor het raam, op de bank, onder de lamp en met alle lampen aan zijn er toch wat leuke foto’s uitgekomen.

And then came the art of making some good pictures of it. I applaud Inge for her close-ups, nice cleanup and ultimate glitter! After several attempts with flash, without flash, in front of the window, on the couch, under the lamp and with all lights on I finally managed to get some nice pictures.

Nu ben ik ook erg benieuwd hoe de groene lak is die ik gekregen heb .. wellicht komt er over een paar weken weer een gastblog ;)

And now I'm very curious about the green polish I got...maybe there will be a next Guestblog in a few weeks ;)

Dit is de tweede studie die Maria heeft afgerond, hiervoor heeft ze gebarentaal gestudeerd, ze geeft nu les op een school voor dove en slechthorende kinderen.

Geweldige eerste poging Maria! Ik ben erg blij dat je de lakjes die ik heb uitgezocht leuk vindt. Ik ga deze lak ook maar eens een keer proberen!
Ik wens je heel veel success in je carriere als juffrouw. Ik weet zeker dat 'de kinderen' erg blij zijn met hun Juf Maria! XXX
