Zoya Rica shown by my 2 y.o. son

So my son really loves nail polish. He is 2 years and 9 months old and if he finds a bottle of polish he immediately wants his nails done. Since his fascination with my polish began, I try to put all the bottles away as soon as I'm done with them. But when I was taking pictures of my birthday-nails he asked if I could make his nails orange. I just can't refuse if he askes me something with that cute little voice of him.

After I painted his tiny nails I resumed taking pictures of my own nails, but he kept putting his cute small chubby hands next to mine. He wanted me to take pictures of his nails.
Again I couldn't refuse. You see the pattern here?

(PS- Technically Zoya Rica is not an orange, but a coral. But he loved it anayway.)

He is going to be the Hollands Next Male Handmodel for sure :-)

And a sneakpeak of the nails that I was taking pictures of when the above all happened. I'm not done picking out pictures, cropping them etc, but they will be up on the blog real soon.

He usually does one day with his nailpolish, being a toddler is tough on your nails, so mostly by the time he goes to bed there are only small traces of polish left.

Ofcourse this is no real review, just me showing off my boys cute hands with polished nails. I did a real review a long while back, you can find it here.

Changes on the PolishSis blog! And pictures of my ziplock bag mani

Long time no see ladies! How are you all doing?
I'm a working mom now, 3 days per week at the office and the other 4 days I'm with my boy.
He turned 1 year old this month!!! Time flies so very fast, my boy is standing, walking with help from mom and dad or a small chair that he pushes around the room. I think he want's to be The Hulk when he grows up, because he loves to smash things ;-)

I'm rarely posting mani's lately, but things are going to change around here!
I decided to take pictures of every mani I'm doing, but not to make such a big deal about it. If I have a cellphone with me, I'm taking pictures with that. If the lighting is bad, I'm taking the best shots I can and mention it in the post. If I was polishing my nails by bad lighting and it doesn't look perfect, so be it. If I have horrible cuticles because I don´t have the time to Lemony Flutter them 10 times a day, sh*t happens.

I will also be less elaborate about the color, application etc. I will mention everything you'll need to know and be very honest about it, don't worry.

One of the hardest things for me to change on my blog is the following: I used to blog in Dutch ánd English. From now on I'll only blog in English.
I live in Holland, so Dutch is my mother-language and the easiest for me to write in, but it takes alot of time to do both Dutch and English in one blogpost. I was basically writing the same post twice, every single time. I just don't have the time and energy for that now. English is the language almost everyone on the www understands, so I decided to do my posts only in English from now on.
I know my English isn't perfect, but you can also choose to only look at the pictures :-)

The only thing that is important to me is to be able to share my nail polish addiction with people who understand my addiction and who like to see the polishes I'm using.

And now some pictures of a recent mani!

I used the ziplock bag technique which you have probably seen on alot of other blogs.
For a first attempt it turned out pretty good I think!

On the picture above you see how I prepared for this mani. The silver holographic glitter polish (China Glaze Nova) was not working for me in this technique so i didn't use that one. I couldn't get it to lay flat after I punched the circle out.

PolishSis' unposted manis of 2012.

As most of you know, 2012 was a special year for me. I was pregnant and in august I gave birth to our beautiful boy Tyler. Yayyy! Due to extreme fatigue and nausea during pregnancy and being 24/7 on my happy babyblue cloud after Tyler was born, I posted alot less manis this year. But that doesn't mean I didn't try to. I painted my nails often and sometimes even took pictures with the intent to show them to you. It's 2013 now and these pictures are still on my laptop waiting to be shown. So here is a small recap of some of the mani's I wore in 2012, but never posted.
(and if you can make it all the way untill the end of this post, I might have a bonus-babypicture for you :-) )

Zoals de meeste van jullie wel weten, was 2012 een speciaal jaar voor mij. Ik was zwanger en in augustus beviel ik van onze prachtige zoon Tyler. Wegens extreme vermoeidheid en misselijkheid tijdens mijn zwangerschap en wegens extreme blijdschap nadat Tyler was geboren heb ik bijzonder weinig mani's aan jullie laten zien dit jaar. Maar dat betekent niet dat ik niet vele pogingen heb gedaan tot het maken van blogposts. Ik had meestal gelakte nagels en nam er vaak ook foto's van met de bedoeling deze hier te laten zien. Het is nu 2013 en die foto's staan nog steeds op mijn laptop. Dus hier is een kleine samenvatting van lakjes die ik wel gedragen heb, maar nooit heb laten zien.
(en als je het helemaal volhoudt tot het einde van deze blogpost, dan heb ik daar misschien wel een bonus-babyfoto voor je :-) )

Revlon Beach: Very sheer, needed 4 thick coats. I'm not a fan of scented nails.
Revlon Beach: Erg dun, 4 dikke laagjes nodig. Ik ben geen fan van geurtjes op mn nagels.

Kleancolor Red Hot: Lovely red glitters in a red transparent base. Smells awful, drytime is long.Kleancolor Red Hot: Mooie rode glitters in een doorzichtige rode lak. Stinkt gruwelijk en droogt langzaam

Nubar Chocolate Caramel is a caramel color with a light green shimmer. Just lovely.
Nubar Chocolate Caramel is een warme caramel kleur met helder groene shimmer. Mooi kleurtje.

Nubar Black polkadot is a versatile layering polish. Can be worn over almost every polish. 
Nubar Black Polkadot is een veelzijdige topcoat. Je kan deze lak bijna over iedere lak heen dragen.

I looove OPI Pros and Bronze! Ultra small coral and golden flakies in a clear base , 3 coats.
I think this one looks good with every skintone, shape or lengthe of nail.
Oh ik hou van OPI Pros and Bronze! Super fijne koraal en goud kleurige flakies in transparante basis, 3 laagjes.
Ik denk dat deze lak prachtig past bij iedere huidskleur, vorm of lengte van nagel.

Models Own Slate Green is a very pretty teal, application is a breeze.
Models Own Slate Green is een prachtig groenbauw lakje, smeert zo makkelijk op.

If you can't decide which polish to wear...wear them all ;-)
Als je niet kan kiezen welk lakje je op moet doen...draag ze allemaal ;-)

Milani Hi Tech looks amazing in the sun. Not a bright holo, but still pretty.
Milani Hi Tech ziet er super uit in de zon. Geen opvallende holo, maar wel mooi.

I wore Kleancolor Holo Purple over a medium purple. It's not a holo though, but a duochrome glitter.
The smell is very very bad. 
Ik droeg Kleancolor Holo Purple over een  paars lakje. Het is trouwens geen holo, maar een duochrome glitter.
De geur is echt vreselijk.

Zoya Ivanka is one of the best greens I own. Very colorful and sparkly.
Zoya Ivanka is één van mijn mooiste groene lakjes. Heel kleurrijk en glimmend.

Essence Grand-Plie in Black is ultra glossy, I'm not wearing topcoat in this picture!
Essence Grand -Plie in Black is echt super glimmend, ik draag geen topcoat op deze foto!

Essie Tart Deco is perfect for the summer, it looks great if you are a bit tanned!
Essie Tart Deco is perfect voor de zomer, het staat geweldig bij een zongebruind huidje!

Herôme Essaouira is a light green / mint color that gives you a fresh and colorful look!
Herôme Essaouira is een licht groene / mint kleurige lak die je handen een frisse en kleurrijke look geeft!

Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black is a brownish transparent base filled with opalescent duochrome glitters in various sizes. Mostly they shift yellow, orange and green. Very pretty. And like all Kleancolors also very smelly and long drytime.
Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black is een bruinige transparante basis vol met duochrome glitters in verschillende groottes. Voornamelijk kleuren ze geel, oranje en groen. Heel mooi. Zoals alle andere Kleancolors stinken ze als een beerput en drogen langzaam.

OPI Black Spotted. I believe there are no dupes yet. Major tipwear within hours. But I really didn't care, I was just happy I own a bottle.
Opi Black Spotted. Volgens mij is dit een uniek lakje. De lak slijt echt snel aan de punten, al binnen een paar uur. Het kon me weinig schelen, ik was al blij dat ik 'm in mijn bezit heb.

Anny Moonlight is a light metallic eggplant color. Not very  special, but  it looks nice.  Amazing wear, after several days no tipwear.
Anny Moonlight is een lichte metallic aubergine kleur. Niet zo'n speciaal kleurtje, maar het staat wel mooi. Blijft geweldig goed zitten, na meerdere dagen zat het nog perfect.

2B nailpolish. Black with golden glitter. Can't remember a thing about this polish. Looks nice though.
2B nagellak. Zwart met gouden glitters. Ik weet niets meer van dit lakje. Ziet er wel mooi uit.

Herôme Utreg. This polish is named after the town I live in. So obviously I needed to buy  this polish. It's a bright yellow polish with a white/silver shimmer. Needed 4 coats to get good coverage. It was a bit streeky. 
Herôme Utreg. Deze lak heet naar de stad waarin ik woon, dus natuurlijk moest ik deze kopen! Het is een zonnig geel kleurtje met een witte/zilveren shimmer erin. Er waren 4 laagjes nodig voor dit resultaat. Ook was het een beetje streperig.

Zoya - Gemma

Zoya is one of the best brands I know. They usually have very pretty wearable polishes that have a little something extra and the wear is amazing. The brand is not available in stores here Holland, but there are some webshops here that sell this brand. Fortunately I have friends that travel alot and that's how I got this beauty.

Zoya is één van de beste merken die ik ken. Ze hebben meestal mooie draagbare kleurtjes die iets bijzonders hebben en ze blijven erg lang zitten. Dit merk is in Nederland niet in de winkels te koo, maar er zijn wel wat webshops waar je het merk kan kopen. Gelukkig voor mij heb ik vrienden die graag reizen en zo ben ik in het bezit gekomen van deze schoonheid.

Color
A light army green with a blue shimmer. Or is it a lilac shimmer? I can't decide.
Very subtle but gorgeous polish.

Kleur
een lichte legergroen met blauwe shimmer. Of is het een lila shimmer? Ik ben er nog niet uit.
Erg mooi subtiel lakje.

Application
Great ofcourse, it's Zoya. Good in two coats, I did three because I can.

Applicatie
Ja geweldig natuurlijk, het is Zoya. Ziet er mooi uit met twee laagjes, ik draag hier 3 laagjes, gewoon omdat het kan.

Stamped a nice design from a SdP plate on it. Forgot wich one, but they are all awesome.
I used China Glaze Metallic Muse as stamping polish

Ik heb gestempeld met een SdP plate. Ik weet niet meer welke, maar ze zijn allemaal goed.
De stempellak is Chona Glaze Metallic Muse.

PolishSis' choice for best summer-polish 2011 :-)))) Zoya - Rica

If there was a contest for best summer-polish 2011 I would vote for Zoya Rica. Her sister Apple would be my second choice. I didn't expect to love Rica as much as I do, because I'm usually not that crazy about peachy colors. But Rica is really something special and to me she is summer in a bottle.

Als er een wedstrijd zou zijn voor beste zomer-lakje van 2011 zou ik stemmen op Zoya Rica. Haar zusje Apple zou de tweede plaats krijgen. Ik had niet verwacht dat ik zo gek zou zijn op Rica omdat ik meestal niet zo kapot ben van perzikachtige kleurtjes. Maar Rica is echt bijzonder en voor mij is het zomer in een flesje.

Color
Peachy pink with alot of bright golden sparkles! The sparkles are amazing in the sun, even without sun they are very sparkly.

Kleur
Perzikachtig roze met ontzettend veel fel gouden glimmertjes erin! De glimmertjes stralen prachtig in de zon, zelfs zonder zon glimmen ze prachtig.

Application
The polish is a bit sheer, but builds up nicely. This is three coats and had no VNL at all.
The wear is amazing, almost a week without chips on the fingernails and I'm wearing it now almost a month on the toes without a single chip. I have to change my pedi this week because of the growth of my nails, but the polish is still perfect.

Applicatie
Het lakje is redelijk dun, maar dekt prima met een paar laagjes. Dit zijn drie laagjes en je kon mijn nagel er niet doorheen zien.
De lak blijft ook echt goed zitten, vrijwel een week op mn vingernagels zonder stukjes eraf en bijna een maand al op mn tenen zonder ook maar 1 stukje eraf. Ik moet mijn pedi deze week wisselen omdat ik 'uitgroei' heb, maar de lak zit verder wel nog goed.

Holland has the worst summer ever. That's not just my opinion, it was even on the news! They say Antartica has a better summer this year then we have. Isn't that just sad? So I'm wearing alot of bright polishes to compensate for the almost constant rain we are having this summer.

We hebben echt de slechtste zomer ooit dit jaar, het was zelfs op het nieuws. Ze zeggen zelfs dat de Zuidpool beter weer heeft deze zomer dan wij. Dat is toch gewoon diep triest?

Ik draag dus maar een boel vrolijk gekleurde lakjes om te compenseren voor als die vreselijke regenachtige dagen van deze zomer.

Rica in full sunlight. Much sparklier in real life ofcourse.

in love with Zoya - Apple

When I first saw the swatches of the Zoya sunshine collection I immediately fell in love with Apple. Little did I know that pictures don't do this polish justice, she's sooo much better in real life!

Toen ik de eerste swatches zag van de Zoya Sunshine collectie was ik gelijk erliefd op Apple. Wat ik nog niet wist is dat foto's deze lak niet op haar best laten zien, ik het echt is ze nog veeeel mooier!

Zoya Apple in the sun

Color
Bright apple green with alot of golden shimmer, it's very vibrant and sparkly!
Couldn't stop staring at it while I wore it for 5 straight days in a row, she just kept on surprising me.

Kleur
Helder appeltjes groen met heel veel gouden shimmer, het is echt heel erg opvallend en glinsterend!
Kon niet stoppen ernaar te kijken alle 5 dagen achter elkaar dat ik deze lak droeg, ze bleef me maar verbazen.

Application
Great, like most Zoya's, nice brush that allows you to paint quite neat ( unfortunately I'm a messy painter, no brush can fix that )
I did 3 coats on these pictures, I could have done two but then I would have had a little visible nailline.

Applicatie
Prima, zoals de meeste Zoya's, fijn borsteltje waar je redelijk netjes mee kan lakken ( helaas wil ik nog wel eens kliederig lakken, geen enkel borsteltje lost dat op ).
Op deze foto's draag ik 3 laagjes, maar 2 had ook prima gekund hoor, maar dan zag je nog een heel klein beetje mijn nagelrand er doorheen.

I love green and I love shiney things, so this polish is definately one of my favourite at this time!
I even did a pedi with it tonight. Usually I don't wear green on my toes, I prefer bright blue/turquoise, hot pink or fire engine red as a base for my pedi. But this green is so sparkly and fun that I just couldn't resist.

Ik hou van groen en ik hou van glimmende dingen, dus deze lak is absoluut één van van favorieten op dit moment!
Ik heb er zelfs vanavond mijn pedi mee gedaan. Normaal draag ik nooit groen op mijn teentjes, ik geef de voorkeur aan knal blauw/turkooise, fel roze of brandweerwagen rood als basis voor mijn pedi. Maar deze groen is zo glimmend en vrolijk dat ik het niet kon weerstaan.

I really understand why Zoya call this the Sunshine collection, the golden parkles in this polish really look like the sun is shining through the polish :-)

Ik begrijp echt waarom Zoya deze collectie de Sunshine collectie noemt, al die gouden glimmertjes laten het echt lijken of de zon door de lak heen schijnt!

It's green and it glitters.... no it's not Kermit the Disco-Frog, it's my mani!

This is my mani of a few weeks ago. There's something about spring that makes me want to wear bright green polishes and this was exactly what I needed!

Dit is mijn mani van een paar weken geleden. Er is iets aan lente waardoor ik graag lekker felle groene nageltjes wil hebben en dit was precies wat ik nodig had!

Color
Zoya - Midori is a bright green with gold shimmer. I should really do a post of this color bij itself, it's just gorgeous!
OPI - Glow Up Already! is a glitter polish that looks green in the bottle, but actually is a clear polish filled with glitters in the colors limegreen, gold, silver, orange, purple and turqoise.

Kleur
Zoya - Midori is een lekker heldere appletjesgroene kleur met een groene shimmer. Ik moet echt een kleer een post van alleen deze lak doen, het is echt een leuk kleurtje!
OPI - Glow Up Already! is een glitterlak die er groen uitziet in het flesje, maar het is een transparante lak met daarin glittertjes in de kleuren limoengroen, goud, zilver, oranje, paars en turkuoise.

Application
Midori applies wonderful, very nice polish and brush and it's perfect opaque in just two coats.
Glow Up Already! is a very dense glitterpolish and this is just one coat! I guess with two coats you could have an opaque result.

Applicatie
Midori lakt echt heerlijk, de lak heeft een fijne dikte , een fijn borsteltje en ik had maar twee laagjes nodig voor een perfect dekkend resultaat.
Glow Up Already! is een zeer goed gevulde glitterlak, dit is maar één laagje! Ik gok dat je het met twee laagjes wel als dekkende lak kan dragen.

No, I don't have problems with removing the glitters. I love them so much that I don't mind the extra work. I use the foil-technique and that works perfectly for me.

Nee ik heb er geen problemen mee om de glitters te verwijderen. Ik hou zo veel van glitters dat ik dat beetje extra werk niet erg vind. Voor het verwijderen gebruik ik de folie-tchniek en dat werkt prima voor mij.

My outrageous rainbow nails, eyes and lips. Playing with colors for my LowLands-look

I'm going to LowLands!!! Woohoo!!! Lowlands is the biggest 3-day musicfestival in The Netherlands and it's held every year in august. Over 60.000 people go to this festival to enjoy music (mostly alternative) and party 24/7 like craaazy for three days in a row. And with that many people, you'll need to put some effort in your looks, otherwise you'll just blend in the crowd.
So I started playing with some of my polishes and eyeshadows and made some picures of it for you to see.

Ik ga naar LowLands!!! Woohoo!!! Oh ik heb er zo veel zin in, 3 dagen bands kijken, de hele dag en nacht feesten en genieten van de bijzondere sfeer daar. Zoals je waarschijnlijk weet zijn er echt meer dan 60.000 mensen daar, dus als je niet volledig in de menigte wil opgaan dan moet je wat aandacht aan je uiterlijk besteden. Daarom ben ik vorige week wat gaan spelen met lakjes en oogschaduws en heb er wat foto's van gemaakt voor jullie om naar te kijken.

Dit is het resultaat van niet kunnen kiezen welke nagellak je op moet doen...dan doe je ze allemaal op. En ik vond het er leuk uitzien. Dus het worden regenboognagels voor LowLands.

I liked the result so I'll be rocking with my rainbownails on LowLands!
Waarschijnlijk doe ik er flakies overheen, Gosh Rainbow lijkt me hier wel toepasselijk bij.
I might put some flakies over it, Gosh Rainbow seems so appropriate with this mani.
Toen ik mijn nagels op bovenstaande manier had gelakt bedacht ik me dat ik daar ook bijpassende oogschaduws bij heb. Dus toen ben ik verschillende dingen daarmee gaan uitproberen. Ik heb deze look nog niet eerder geprobeerd, maar ik vond het resultaat best grappig.

When I polished my nails in all those colors I thought about the eyeshadows that I have that perfectly matched the colors on my nails. So I grabbed my eyeshadows and tried some looks with them. I never tried something like this before, but I thought it looked like fun.

Oke, de foto hieronder is een waardeloze foto, ik weet het, maar ik vond het zo grappig om te laten zien hoe ik met twee verschillend opgemaakte ogen zat.

En hier ging ik echt helemaal los, hahaha, vraag me niet waarom, maar ik besloot diezelfde oogschaduw op mijn lippen te smeren.
