My new favorite basic: Essence Rebel at Heart (The Metals)

Een paar weken terug was ik een heerlijk weekend met mijn schoonzus in Scheveningen.

Ergens tussen het proosten door (drank vloeide rijkelijk die dag) liepen we door een Kruitvat en kocht ik Esence Rebel at Heart. Hij glimde prachtig en de dronken ekster in mij moest deze lak hebben.

Nou ben ik eigenlijk normaal niet zo gek op de lakken van Essence, ik krijg er meestal niet meer dan 2 dagen (als ik mazzel heb) goede draagtijd van. Als werkende moeder wil ik op werkdagen mijn nagels niet tussendoor hoeven bijwerken of overnieuw moeten lakken, dus kies ik meestal voor een meer high end merk zodat ik zeker weten perfect gelakte nagels heb op werk.

Je snapt dat ik dus verbaasd was toen deze mooie lak na dag 1 nog perfect zat

Na dag 2 zat deze lak ook nog prachtig

Aan het einde van dag 3 had ik lichte slijtage, niet meer dan bij een duur merk en dat voor een bedrag van € 1,89

Ik ben dus erg enthousiast over hoe goed deze lak blijft zitten. Mag ik nog even doorgaan met enthousiast zijn? Want deze lak dekt ook waanzinnig goed! Je kan wegkomen met 1 laag, maar we weten allemaal dat als je het écht perfect wil hebben dat je er dan altijd twee doet, zelfs als het niet echt nodig is. Het geeft meer kleur en diepte. Maak je niet druk over de droogtijd, die is super snel!

Het borsteltje en de dikte van de lak zorgden er ook voor dat ik keurig kon lakken zonder dat er veel lak buiten de lijntjes kwam.

De kleur van de lak is super glimmend en is perfect voor alle gelegenheden en type personen. Chique, stoer, werk, festivals, jong, oud...  Super alleen óf als basis voor nailart met stencils ofzo. Het lijkt wel of ik betaald word om dit te zeggen, maar dat is helaas niet zo :-)
Het is echt een geweldige lak en ik heb al een backup gekocht!

Dus als je € 1,89 kan missen en je vindt dit een mooie lak, dan raad ik 'm heel erg aan.

This is a one coat wonder, but I did two because a true nailaholic knows how much more joy an extra layer of polish gives you. It adds more color, depth and weartime.
About the weartime; awesome! 

Usually I'm a snob about budget brands because they just don't last as long on me as most of their more expensive collegues, but this polish lasted 3 days without losing it's magic.

The polish and brush are perfect for an flawless result, if you are careful you almost don't need cleanup round the edges.

The cost of this beauty: 1,89 euro (2,1 Dollar) at my local drugstore, So it's a real steal!

Twinkled T Nail Vinyls

While looking at all the amazing nails on Instagram I found the perfect nail vinyls: Twinkled T's Cyclone vinyls. I fell in love and found out they were available for a reasonable price via their Etsy shop. So a few minutes later I had placed my order. I added some stripes and chevrons too, because, you know how that goes, you just can't just buy one product.

They arrived quickly and I couldn't wait to try the cyclones out, so I used them over the nail polish I was wearing.

Products used:
Black: Orly Liquid Vinyl
Glitter: Orly Gold Prism
Gold: OPI My Favorite Ornament
Nail Vinyls in Cyclone and Chevron

This was just a little testrun on the vinyls, but I liked the result so much that I took some pictures to show it to you.

Using the cyclone vinyls took me some practice and patience, especially patience. These vinyls are very sticky. The first two vinyls got stuck on eachother when I tried to pick one off the sheet, The third got stuck on itself, it spiraled back after removing it from the sheet and when I tried to fix it I only made it worse and couldn't use it anymore.
Placing it back on my nail also required an insane amount of patience and a steady hand to get them in the right place and with the right spacing between the spirals, but the results are very much worth it!

Have you ever tried these cyclones? If you have, do you have any tips on placing them that might make it a bit easier? I used tweezers as they suggested, but it still took me some time to get it right.

I really love how this turned out, not as nice as the mani I was inspired by, but the colors work really well together!

Spiders on my nails!!! SmART Nails + Giveaway - part 1

Essence - Not Punky Nor Funky (a whole lot of everything and more)

Sometimes when you are not especially looking for it, you find awesome polishes in your local drugstore! When I'm at our local Kruitvat (drugstore) to buy diapers, I have to walk past the make-up stands (oh the horror! ;-)). And there was something sparkly catching my eye at the Essence stand: hello Not Punky Nor Funky.

The name actually confuses me a bit, because it ís Punky ánd Funky.

Let's take a closer look:

Essence Not Punky Nor Funky is a whole lot of everything: black square glitter, holographic bar glitter, large hot pink glitter, tiny orange glitter, large gold glitter with green opalescent glow....and I'm sure I've overlooked some more.

I wore Not Punky Nor Funky over a simple shimmery nude so all the attention goes to the chaos of glitter on top of it. And it did get alot of attention, I received many compliments over this mani!

Look at all the holographic barglitter!

And to my surprise this mani lasted for 4 days without any damages or wear. I removed it because I wanted to wear something different, not because I needed to.

So if you can still find this polish at your local drugstore, go and buy it! You won't be disappointed.

Hits - London (Londres). Lovely black and white glitter!

Since the indie polish brands are a huge hit on the blogs I was lemming my own bottle of black and white glitter! I especially liked Connect The Dots because, but never got my hands on one. (With $ 22,50 a bottle it's too expensive for a home made polish anyway). When I saw the promo pictures of the new Hits Glitter World collection on Llarowe's Facebook I immediately noticed this black and white glitter and I bought it as soon as they were available. It arrived very soon and I really really like how it looks!

Sinds al die indie nagellak merken zo populair zijn op de blogs wil ik heel graag een zwart met witte glitterlak hebben. Ik vond in het begin vooral Connect The Dots leuk, maar heb 'm nooit gekocht (vind $22,50 ook echt te veel voor een 'huisgemaakt' lakje). Toen ik de promo-foto's van de nieuwe collectie van Hits Glitter World zag op de Facebook van Llarowe viel mij gelijk de zwart met witte glitterlak op en zodra die beschikbaar waren heb ik 'm gelijk gekocht! Hij was heel snel binnen en ik vind 'm heeeel erg leuk.

Color
Black and white glitter, medium and large, in a clear base.

Kleur
Zwarte en witte glitters, medium en groot, in een transparante basis.
Hier draag ik 'm over een grijze lak van Hema.

Application
There are alot of glitters in this tiny bottle (6ml), unfortunately they all end op at the tip of your nail if you apply it like regular polish, so you really need to dab them on. The result is great, as you can see.

Applicatie
Er zitten echt veel glitters in dit kleine flesje (6ml), helaas eindigen ze allemaal aan het puntje van je nagel als je het opbrengt zoals een normale lak, dus je moet ze er voorzichtig met het kwastje op deppen. Je krijgt wel een mooi resultaat zoals je ziet

It's 'just' black and white glitter over a plain grey creme, but I couldn't stop staring at my nails, they looked so different than I'm used to. This might be my new favorite glitter polish. Can't wait to try it over a more colorful base.

Het is 'maar' zwarte en witte glitter over een grijze creme lak, maar ik kon gewoon niet stoppen met kijken naar mijn nagels, ze zagen er zo anders uit dan ik gewend was. Ik denk dat dit misschien wel mijn favoriete glitter lak is. Heb er echt zin in om 'm een keer over een meer kleurrijke lak te dragen.

Nailmail! Woohoo, I received my Misa haul yesterday :-D Bottleshots & Swatches

Last Wednesday I had the luck of reading about an online webstore that had a huge sale on Misa polishes, every Misa polish was sold for 1 Euro! *insert happydance here*
Misa is one of my favorite brands, so I rushed to the site to place my order. While placing my order, lot's of polishes that were already in my basket changed to 'sold out', but these are the ones I was able to get!

Afgelopen woensdag had ik het geluk om te ontdekken dat een online webstore een enorme uitverkoop had op Misa nagellakjes, ieder lakje werd verkocht voor 1 Euro! *voeg hier vreugdedansje toe*
Misa is één van mijn favoriete merken, dus ik haastte me naar de site om een bestelling te plaatsen. Terwijl ik mijn bestelling plaatste versprongen lakjes die ik al in mijn mandje had naar 'uitverkocht', maar dit zijn degenen die ik nog heb kunnen krijgen!

16 beautiful bottles nailpolish, almost all of them with the amazing creamy one coat application that I love this brand so much for. 

16 prachtige flesjes nagellak, bijna allemaal met de geweldige crèmige lak die in één laag dekt waardoor ik zo van dit merk hou.

SOOO happy these colors were still available, look how great they look!!!!
I'm completely in looove with Let's Go Green, it's so bright and colorful.

Alle swatches hierboven (behalve Golden Tan op de ringvinger) zijn gedaan met 2 laagjes lak, geen topcoat, maar ze zagen er ook al goed uit met 1 dikker laagje. Golden Tan zie je hier met 4 lagen.

ZOOO blij dat ik deze kleurtjes nog kon krijgen, kijk nou hoe geweldig ze zijn!

Ik ben volledig verliefd op Let's Go Green, wat een lekker fel kleurrijk lakje is dat!

I don't wear purples often, but I'm very happy with these. For some reason my camera wasn't able to capture how amazing they look in real life, but believe me: they look great!

Alle swatches hierboven (behalve Denim&Lace op mijn ringvinger) zijn 2 laagjes, geen topcoat.

De eerste 3 lakjes zagen er al geweldig uit in één dikkere laag.

Alleen Denim&Lace is 4 lagen.

Ik draag niet zo vaak paarse lak, maar ik ben wel blij dat ik deze nu heb. Mijn camera krijgt het om wat voor rare reden dan ook niet voor elkaar om te laten zien hoe mooi deze lakjes in het echt zijn, maar geloof me: ze zijn echt mooi.

All swatches above are 2 coats, but already looked nice in one thick layer. No topcoat is used here.

Push Upon it is a bit more pink in real life, very pretty.

Party In The Masquerade is an amazing neon (needs topcoat), I immediately did a pedi with it! Being pregnant makes my feet HUGE and fat (muck like LOTR's Frodo, but without the hair) so I need to keep my toenails perfectly polished to compensate for them being out of proportion.

Alle swatched hierboven zijn 2 lagen, maar zagen er al goed uit in één dikke laag. Ik heb hier geen topcoat gebruikt.

Push Upon It is meer roze in het echt, heel mooi.

Party In The Masquerade is een prachtige neon (heeft topcoat nodig), ik heb er gelijk een pedi mee gedaan! Zwangerschap zorgt ervoor dat mijn voeten echt GROOT en dik zijn (zoals LOTR's Frodo, maar dan zonder het haar), dus het is voor mij belangrijk om mijn teennagels perfect gelakt te houden ter compensatie van het feit dat mijn voeten helemaal uit verhouding zijn.

Truth and Suited Perfectly are swatched in 3 very thick coats. They are both very sheer.
My Dying Love looked great in one coat, but I did two anyway.

On my ringfinger I tried a glittersandwich using Suited Perfectly and Nubar Black Polkadot (2 coats Suited Perfectly + 1 coat Black Polkadot + 2 coats Suited Perfectly )

Truth en Suited Perfectly zijn allebei geswatched met 3 dikke lagen. Ze zijn erg transparant.

My Dying Love zag er super uit met 1 laag, maar ik heb er toch maar 2 gedaan.
Op mijn ringvinger heb ik een glittersandwich geprobeerd met Suited perfectly en Nubar Black Polkadot (2 lagen Suited Perfectly + 1 laag Black Polkadot + 2 lagen Suited Perfectly)

I'm so happy with all my new Misa polishes! I adore this brand, even though their collections are not always innovative or spectacular.
What they sometimes lack in originality they make up for in quality, amazing wear and application.

Ik ben zo blij met mijn nieuwe Misa lakken! Ik ben echt gek op dit merk, ondanks dat hun collecties niet altijd vernieuwend of bijzonder zijn.
Wat ze soms missen in originatiteit maken ze goed in kwaliteit, lange draagtijd en makkelijke applicatie.

Models Own - Emerald Black from the Beetlejuice collection. Swatches and review

I actually didn't want to order this polish at first, it seemed like just another black-with-green-shimmer like we've seen many times before. But as I bought the boxed set it was included and I'm glad I got it!

Deze lak wilde ik eigenlijk in eerste instantie niet eens bestellen, het leek me weer zo'm zwart-met-groene-shimmer zoals we die al zo vaak hebben gezien. Maar ik kocht het complete pakketje in cadeauverpakking en daar zat 'ie bij en nu ben ik heel blij dat ik 'm heb!

Color
Black with green shimmer. Sometimes the shimmer looks more green, sometimes it looks like there is a little blue in it. The color is very pretty and glossy.

Kleur
Zwart met groene shimmer. Soms lijkt de shimmer heel groen, soms lijkt het alsof er wat blauw in zit. De kleur is mooi en heel glimmend.

Application
Almost a onecoater, but still needs two coats for the perfect coverage. I guess this is one of those polishes that become a onecoater after you've yoused it a couple of times and it thickened a bit.

Applicatie
Bijna goed in één laagje, maar je hebt wel echt twee laagjes nodig om het mooi dekkend te krijgen. Ik denk dat dit zo'n lakje is dat na een paar keer gebruiken een beetje indikt en in één laagje dekt.

This is by no means a duochrome polish like the other polishes of this collection, but it still is very pretty!

Dit is zeker geen duochrome zoals de andere lakjes van de collectie, maar het is wel echt mooi!

Nail Polish Bloggers Challenge, Day 5: Hard Rock Candy Cane

Light pink is not my favorite color, so I tried to do a look with this that would make it a little bit more edgy and would show less of the pink base. This what I came up with:

Licht roze is niet mijn favoriete kleur, dus ik wilde deze keer iets doen waardoor het er wat stoerder uit zou zien en waarbij je wat minder zou zien van de roze basis. En dit is wat ik bedacht heb:

First I painted my nails pink and allowed it to dry completely. Then I used stripingtape to get the sripes and didn't cut the stripes off at the edges so removing them would be easier. After that I applied the black polish and carefully removed the stripingtape as soon as possible. Topped it off with a nice thick coat of topcoat and it was done.

Allereerst heb ik natuurlijk mijn nagels roze gelakt en heb het goed laten drogen. Daarna heb ik stripingtape gebruikt en de uiteinden niet afgeknipt zodat ik de streepjes er makkelijk vanaf kon halen. Daarna dik laagje zwarte lak er overheen en direct voorzichtig die tripingtape eraf geplukt. Laagje topcoat erover en het was klaar.

It was a bit of a chore to get al the stripes on neatly so I doubt if I will ever do all 10 nails like this, but it is a great way do an accent nail or maybe all 10 nails with a little less stripes on them.

het was wel even een klusje on alle streepjes er keurig op te krijgen, dus ik betwijfel of ik ooit alle 10 nagels zo zou doen, maar het is wel een leuk idee om op deze manier een accentnagel te doen of alle 10 de nagels met wat minder streepjes.

The black polish has tiny holographic glitters in it, it's really pretty. I bought it many years ago, but it still works great! It's even better than in the beginning because it's more opaque now.
De zwarte lak heeft piepkleine holografische glittertjes erin, het is erg mooi. Ik heb deze echt al jaren geleden gekocht, maar het is nog steeds goed. Het is misschien zelfs wel beter dan in het begin omdat het nu beter dekt.

It's friday now and I just came home from work. It was a long and busy week so I'm going to relax a bit tonight, watch tv, drink some wine and polish my nails. I have no clue what color I shall paint them, but I have ALOT of untrieds to hoose from. I think Friday is my favourite day of the week.

Het is nu vrijdag en ik ben net thuis van werk. Het was een lange en drukke week dus ik ga lekker relaxen vanavond, beetje tv kijken, win drinken en nageltjes lakken. Ik heb geen idee welke kleur in mn nagels ga doen, maar ik heb VEEL ongebruikte lakjes om uit te kiezen. Ik denk dat vrijdag mn favoriete dag van de week is.

Color Club - Revvvolution ( aka Black Holo Eyecandy)

Color Club Revvvolution came out two years ago, but it's still one of the best polishes Color Club ever made! I realised I never showed it on my blog eventhough I've worn it many times, just like it's sisters Wild at Heart and Fashion Addict, which I really must show you soon!
But now feast your eyes on Revvvolution:

Color Club Revvvolution is al twee jaar oud, maar het is nog steeds één van de beste lakjes die Color Club ooit gemaakt heeft! Ik besefte me dat ik deze nog nooit aan jullie heb laten zien terwijl ik 'm best wel vaak gedragen heb, net als zn zusjes Wild at Heart en Fashion addict die ik jullie ook echt snel een keertje moet laten zien. Maar nu kan je genieten van Revvvolution:

Color
Black, not jet black, but more soft looking due to all the amazing holographic particles in it. Because it's not deep black you can really wear this on any occasion. In the sun it's a rainbow over black, it's not an extreme holo as for instance a Nfu Oh holo. It's more subtle, but definately noticable. It's just perfection to me.

Kleur
Zwart, niet git zwart, maar het oogt veel zachter door alle holografische deeltjes die erin zitten. Omdat het niet super zwart is kan je deze lak alle gelegenheden dragen. In de zon is het een regenboog op een zwarte achtergrond, het is niet een hele extreme holo zoals een Nfu Oh. Het is wat meer subtiel, maar wel duidelijk zichtbaar. Deze lak is voor mij echt perfect.

Application
It's a onecoater and dries super fast. I'm wearing two coats so the ridges in my nails are not showing, but you get perfect coverage with one thin coat. This is a polish I wear when I'm in a hurry.

Appliactie
Met één laag ben je klaar en die laag droogt super snel. Ik draag hier twee lagen zodat de ribbels in mn nagels niet zo opvallen, maar met één dun laagje is het eigenlijk al helemaal perfect. Dit is een lak die ik draag als ik haast heb.

Holo's + summer are the perfect match. I usually don't wear darker colors in the summer, I like how the brighter colors look in the sun, but this black holo is just lovely in the summer. It looks classy and fun at the same time.

Holo's + zomer zijn echt de perfecte combinatie. Ik draag meestal geen donkere kleuren in de zomer, ik hou ervan hoe de fellere kleuren stralen in de zon, maar deze zwarte holo is echt leuk in de zomer. Het ziet er netjes en vrolijk uit tegelijk.

I don't own OPI's My Private Jet, but from what I've seen on other blogs I think that OPI MPJ is slightly more brown, less opaque and slightly less holographic. So if you missed out on that one you can always try to get a bottle of Revvvolution.

Graffiti, Pool Party & bling ( sounds like the concept of a wild party...or a wild mani )

This is a mani from exactly a month ago, yes, I'm very behind. It was absolutely amazing to wear this, the graffiti effect is unique and no two nails are the same.

Dit is een mani van exact een maand geleden, ja ik loop erg achter. Het was echt geweldig om dit te dragen, het graffiti effect is uniek en niet twee nagels zijn hetzelfde.

Effect: Isadora Graffiti Nails - Black Tag

Top: China Glaze - Wireless Holographic Topcoat

The look of the graffiti effect depends on how thick you apply the polish. So you can go for a subtle or a dramatic effect with this. Look at the picture below: see the left pinky above in the picture? It has a thin stripey effect, that's because I applied the polish thin. The other nails have big chunks of graffiti effect, that's because I applied a thick coat of griffiti polish on the nail.

Hoe je graffiti effect eruit komt te zien hangt af van hoe dik je deze lak aanbrengt. Je kan gaan voor een subtiel effect of een dramatisch effect. Kijk naar de foto die je hier beneden ziet: zie je mijn linker pink bovenin de foto? Het heeft een dun streperig graffiti effect, dat komt omdat ik hierop een dun laagje lak had gesmeerd. De rest van de nagels hebben een redelijk grof graffiti effect, dat komt doordat ik daarop een lekkere dikke laag lak op heb gesmeerd.

The graffiti nailpolish dries in a few seconds, so when applying this polish...be quick or the crackling effect starts before you are finished painting your nail. Oh and be sure that your basecolor has dried almost completely before you apply the graffiti polish or it drags the basecolor with it and you get bald spots.

Deze graffiti lak droogt in een paar seconden, dus wees snel met het lakken hiermee of het effect barst al los terwijl je nog aan het lakken bent. Oh en zorg ervoor dat je basiskleur al vrijwel helemaal droog is voordat je die graffiti lak erop smeert andres trekt de graffiti lak bij het drogen de basislaag mee en dan heb je kale plekken.

Because the graffiti polish dries matte and with a noticable texture you'll want to slap on a nice glossy topcoat. Ofcourse that wasn't enough for me, so I used holographic topcoat and after that some Seche Vite.

Omdat de graffiti nagellak matte opdroogt en met het effect als een duidelijk profiel op je nagel, wil je er wel een lekkere dikke laag topcoat op smeren. Uiteraard was dat nog niet genoeg voor me, dus ik heb eerst een holografische topcoat opgedaan en daarna nog een laag Seche Vite.

This mani had me entertained for four days and still when I look at these pictures I love the mani.

I should use graffiti polish again real soon, I still have a light pink one and a red one I haven't used yet and I have some nice things I would like to try out with those...

Deze mani heeft me 4 dagen vermaakt en als ik nu naar de foto's kijk ben ik er weer helemaal blij mee.

Ik moet snel maar snel weer wat doen met graffiti nagellak, ik heb nog een licht roze en een rode die nog niet gebruikt zijn en ik heb al wel wat leuke dingen bedacht die ik daarmee zou willen uitproberen.
