Golden Oldie Thursday - Splatter manicure with China Glaze 'OMG' and China Glaze 'Harmony'

By // 3 comments:
I decided to try the splatter manicure. It looked very easy, I've seen a million good splatter manicures on the web, so I grabbed some straws and huffed and puffed the polish on my nails.
Well, it was not as easy as I thought it would be. You have to be very precise in the amount of polish you use; if you use too much you get a big ugly blob of polish on your nails. If you use too little, the polish sticks to the straw and doesn't come on your nails, no matter how hard you blow into the straw.

Polishes used:
W7 Matt Black
China Glaze - Harmony
China Glaze OMG
Hema Matte topcoat

Am I glad with the result? Hmmm, not so much, but my first time could have been worse ;-)
I do like the randomness of it, not sure yet if this is something I would wear as a full mani though.

This weeks GOT Polish Chasllenge was "Lilac"

Hunkemöller - 'Blue'.

By // No comments:
One of Hollands biggest underware-, nightware- and beachwarestores Hunkemöller has added some beauty products to their collection, I didn't know about it until I had to exchange a gift and found some nail polishes on the checkout counter. I didn't have the time to check them all out, but this blue immediately catched my attention.
Color:
The creative name of this polish is 'Blue'. The base is indeed a beautiful cornflower blue, but there is a very heavy pink shimmer in it that transforms this color to so much more than just 'blue'. The pink shimmer is strong (even stronger in real life than in these pictures) and gives this polish a magical glow.
If I could re-name this polish, I would call it Poolside Fairy.

Application:
The brush is thin and very flexible, almost too flexible. You need a steady hand, some patience and a light touch to keep the brush on your nail and not let it slip against your cuticles. The polish itself is a bit thin and runny, but again if you apply it slowly and with a little patience, it will not flood your cuticles. I only used two coats for these pictures.

I love finding nail polish in unexpected places :-)
This polish costs only 3 Euro and is available in alot of Hunkemöller stores (not all of them) and in the Hunkemöller webshop.
I think these nail polishes are a nice addition to the Hunkemöller collection of underwear, homewear and especially to their beachwear. Now you have no excuse not to match or intentionally mismatch your nails to your bikini (or in my case: tankini)!

Thank you so much for watching!!!
I hope you all have a great day :-)

Lots of Love,

Golden Oldie Thursday - Rescue Beauty Lounge "Look Rich, Be Cheap"

By // 4 comments:
Oh how I love the name of this polish!
In 2009 Rescue Beauty Lounge released a small collection of three glitter polishes, "Look Rich, be Cheap", "Locavore" and "Frugalista". I immediately fell head over heels in love with them and paid a small fortune to get these gems and have them shipped to Holland.
This might seem weird to you now, but in 2009 a multicolored glitter polish with full coverage was a rare thing! And besides that, they were just gorgeous.

So for this weeks Golden Oldie Thursday 'With Bling', I'm showing you Look Rich, be Cheap.
RBL Look Rich Be Cheap is a mix of gold and purple glitter, this is two coats.
Very shiny and perfect for a party or to brighten up a gloomy day :-)

Now when I look at the pictures I made, I feel like a fool to add those huge purple rhinestones to my accentnail, they do not match the polish at all. The polish is much too classy for that.

With al the colorful crazy glitter polishes the indies offer us, we are hard to impress nowadays with just any glitter polish. I don't think if this collection would have been released in 2014, i would have paid the big bucks for it. But it's a nice little collection for my stash :-)

Catrice Luxury Lacquers - Chromeo & Julia

By // 1 comment:
A limited edition duo-chrome nail polish by Catrice called Chromeo & Julia.
Completely opaque in one coat, but I did two coats because the first coat was very sloppy and had some streaks in it because of that.
The duo-chrome effect is very strong, stronger than it may appear on the pictures. Sometimes my nails are completely a fiery golden color, sometimes they are a bright metallic reddish pink, most of the time it looks like I have a sunset on my nails.

I really like this polish, and the fact that it's a onecoater makes me like it even more. Oh and it dried really fast too!

This is a limited edition polish, I bought it at Kruidvat a few weeks ago, I don't know if it it still available.

I took the pictures this morning after a full day (and night) of wear, as you can see the tipwear is minimal.

I took the pictures early this morning. There is no direct sunlight in the livingroom in the morning, so I squatted on the ground before my front door in my homewear to take these pictures. Fortunately no neighbors passed by :-)

Thank you so much for watching!
Enjoy your weekend!

Golden Oldie Thursday (GOT) Polish Challenge - May 1st - Flowers

By // 4 comments:
This weeks theme is Flowers. I ordered some waterdecals from Born Pretty Store a few weeks back and used one of them for the nail on my ringfinger

On my index and pink I did a simple watermarble, which turned out quite nice on the indexfinger. On my pinky the watermarble didn't look the way I wanted it to, but this was only the second time I tried to watermarble, so it can only get better :-)

The waterdecals from Born Pretty Store are really easy to apply and you get a good wear out of them. Only thing is that they are probably made for those elegant small Asian nails and not for my big wide European nails. But there are enough decals that fit some of my nails, so I use them as an accent, not for an entire mani.

I think the floral theme is very well chosen on this first day of May!
I'm already thinking about my mani of may 8th as the theme is neon and I love my neons!
